TECHNOLOGY OF DOMINI 3037:
Here is a listing of some of the technology found in Domini at this time. New people from different worlds and dimensions usually bring new technologies along with them. This list is a beganning, not the sum total. New ideas are welcomed and encouraged. With all things, I do ask that you get permision from the room controller, but in most cases, that will not be difficult.
The mutants, living in the waste lands, depend on low tech vehicles. They are much less cost restrictive, but have the obvious limits. They tend to be slower and do not offer energy shielding. Whereas a mutant might have the magic to absorb energy attacks, or telekenetics to deflect solid attacks, his vehicle is more subseptible to damage. They usually do equipt low tech weapons on their vehicles, such as heavy machine guns or the occasional missle launcher.
Subspace transport refers to the shuttles that move personal, equiptment and supplies to or from the earth and Second Moon. Second Moon itself will be explained later in this page. These crafts are more expensive for obvious reasons then the personal transports, but still offer rides at a cost. The cost of which is also higher then other public transportation, but some merchants do find the cost acceptable. There are alien races that do have items to trade and can not enter Dominian atmosphere at all. Exchanges in subspace have been found to be the best agreement.
Deep space transport is possible. Domini developed their own technologies and borrowed on some concepts of other planets. This is incredibly cost restrictive however. The main ship employed is the Dominian Vortex class. The ship itself is 1000 kilometers in length. It utilizes the Dwarven made Vortex drive tm as its primary propulsion. The Vortex class does have contemporary energy shielding but also has Enjiniar Technologies Warp Shielding. Needless to say, the Vortex drive offers faster then light travel as well as interdimensional traveling. One ships crew complement stands at 3,000 standard. Vortex weapontry includes twin particle cannon arrays. The array itself can be likened to the primative gatlin gun. Four nexus torpedo cannons are reserved as a secret weapontry advantage and only utilized if the other systems are not having an effect. Barrier shielding is always double redundant and the life support systems are standard triple redundancy. There is a picture of the Vortex Class on the pictures page.
The next move up in fire power is the blaster rifle. This is nothing more then the rifle version of a laser pistol. They do not offer additional damaging power, but do offer a much greater range. Range other features, same as with the pistols, is still cost dependant. Like all technologies in Domini, the best are of Dwarven make.
The most powerful firearms upgrade in Domini would be the particle cannon. Even the smallest of these powerful weapons could only ever possibly be carried by a Dwarf thats strong by their standards. They range in size, fire power and range anywhere from the small transport mounted versions to the extremely large cannons featured on the Vortex Class ships.
Offering the latest in high tech melee weapons, Luminesque Innovations has recently release the Leyser Sword. Deactivated, this weapon appears as nothing more then a 20 centimeter long, slender metalic tube. When activated, however, a one meter leyser beam extends from the end, powered by a small ley crystal installed in the handle. The color of this leyser beam can very, via the use of different Leyglass filters. The prefered color of leyser blades is, of course, Dominian red. These beam can cut swiftly through most materials other then energy shields. A note to Leyser Sword fans: There is no presence of the force in Domini 3037! Whereas one of these "Jedi" might fall through a rift and find themselves in Domini, they would also find they have no ability to peek into the future or see the attacks of their opponents before they happen. Other then that one point, I don't have a problem with Jedi-like characters, as long as you know your stuff. Preferably, more then the few insights from the movies.
Barrier shield is the Dominian name given to a force field. The simplest of these shields filter out the dangerous radiation in the atmosphere. Most offer some degree or other of protection against weapon attacks. The protection granted from barrier shields deflects 90% of all damage. This does not make you invincible, but does offer you an edge against the instant death of a leyser sword or blaster rifle. Barrier shields range in size from the powerful generators that blanket the cities and palace to a simple belt buckle of a shield belt. These personal protective barriers offer Dominians the chance to be as they always have...warriors. Dominians do know, however, never to rely fully on their shield belts. The fifth hit of a laser pistol, blaster rifle, or leyser sword that strikes the shield means death. Even the smallest particle cannon will kill someone instantly because of the magnitude of damage. City dwellers never leave their own without shield belts. To do so would mean radiation sickness and a minimum of 24 hours in a decontamination chamber, not to mention the higher risk of dying in an attack. A word on low tech weapons: Small caliber guns and conventional swords, maces, etc, do almost nothing against a shield belt. Higher caliber fire power does however. A 50 caliber gun can kill just as fast as a laser pistol, and a granade will still maim. In other words, the winner of a fight is still determined by skill and wits rather then the technology employed.
All Machine Golems are protected not only by barrier shielding, but also with the new Myth Tech armor. This polymere is made from mythril and millitary grade plastics. Myth tech alone can stop minigun fire and dampen granade fragmentation. All utilize the latest onboard computers. A combination of heads up display, infrared, GPS tracking, sattilite uplink, and even varying spell imbuements.
The weapon systems and exact performance of each Machine Golem varies greatly. Parts are interchangable, and upgrades are constantly available. Needless to say, the CEO of Luminesque Innovations has the most advanced Machine Golem available with some features not offered for sale on any worlds yet.
Machine Golem prices vary widely, but none can be touched for under 10,000 credits. Too much goes into the construction. Weither or not the Empire will hire an elite force of pilots for Machine Golems remains to be seen...
