The Glasgow Karate Academy was established by Sensei Ben Fail 2nd Dan. The club is a proudly affiliated to the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB), Britain's largest single-style organisation.
                                     Sensei Ben Fail
Sensei Fail started karate in 1997 at Cramlington Shotokan Karate Club, under the instruction of Sensei Stuart Davison (3rd Dan), he obtained his Shodan (1st dan) in 2002. He then left Cramlington and began training at Ashington Shotokan Karate Club under the instruction of Sensei Ian Willis (5th Dan) and Sensei Keith Burns (4th Dan).
Ashington club is renowned for producing many champions of all ages in kumite, kata and team events at regional, national and world class levels. The standard of training is exceptionally high and much is expected from the candidate. It was through the excellent tuition of Sensei Willis and Burns that Sensei Fail was selected for the England squad in 2004 & 2005 and obtained his Nidan (2nd Dan) in 2006.
In 2006 Sensei Fail moved to Glasgow, whereupon he contacted the scottish regional officer: Sensei Gordon Mathie (5th Dan) and informed him of his plans to start up clubs in Glasgow. Sensei Mathie's experience, enthusiasm and position in the KUGB was of great advantage to Sensei Fail and he was most supportive, helping immensely with the initiation his clubs.
Sensei Mathie invited sensei Fail to compete in the 2006 Scottish Regional Championships, where he achieved 2nd place in senior male: kumite, kata and team kumite.

Future plans

Sensei Fail's future plans are to develop his clubs in Glasgow to a standard of excellence that is recognised throughout Scotland and the rest of Great Britain and in doing so, increase immensely the KUGB's presence in the city.
