Who Killed Marilyn?
Albums:
The Misfits were a punk rock band from New Jersey. Their reign lasted from 1977 to 1983. They got the name for the band from a Marilyn Monroe film, and Marilyn would also go on to inspire some of the Misfit's songs. The original members were Glenn Danzig on vocals, Jerry Only on bass, Franch Coma on guitar, and Manny on drums. Future members would be Mr. Jim on drums, Bobby Steele on guitar, Joey Image on drums, Arthur Googy on drums, Doyle on guitar, Todd Swala on drums, Robo, on drums, and Brian Damage on drums.
One of the main things that separates the Misfits from other bands is their look and style. Off stage they would sport their leather jackets and black clothes, and on stage they also had a trademark look. Glenn Danzig would wear his skeleton t-shirt and skeleton gloves, or a captain harlock shirt along with more black clothes. Jerry Only and Doyle had custom made guitars and basses with skulls and such on them. All members of the band also sported the Misfits hairstyle, coined the "devilock." Eventually the misfits adopted their very own logo of sorts. It was a skull face which would eventually be named the "crimson ghost." The image of the crimson was put everywhere by the Misfits, on shirts, album covers, banners, flyers, and all over the stage when then played. The Misfits also started the "fiend club." With this people could sign up and the Misfits would send you a whole bunch of free stuff such as stickers, buttons, pictures, and even records.

Most of the Misfits' music was put on to records when they recorded them. Later on, even after the band broke up, their songs were compiled onto various CDs and collections. In stores today you can buy, "Collection 1," "Collection 2," "Earth A.D.," "Evilive," "Legacy of Brutality," "Static Age," and "Walk Among Us." There is also a Misfits box set which contains 4 CDs of basically every recorded Misfit song ever, along with some other never before released rare tracks. The box set also contains a booklet with a history of the band and various pictures, and a collector's pin featuring the crimson ghost.

The Misfits are one of the most influential punk bands of all time. Bands today constantly cover the Misfits, make tribute albums, and even make tribute bands dedicated to being the Misfits. Danzig would go on to form the band Samhain, which would eventually turn into the band Danzig. 12 years after the band's break up Jerry Only would resurrect the band with Doyle and a new lead singer. Without Danzig, the band receives criticism from old fans, but Only keeps the band's spirit alive.
