Uninvited

She laid down her best dresses, and sullenly smiled;
She would be uninvited, and unfairness was in her sisters breath.
Unspoken words were said too freely, and too soon;
Too sudden, and too brutal- grim.

She walked to the bus stop, tights ripped and boots dirty;
She waited for the longest time, and someplace, somewhere, her sister smiled.
Dancing happily, and invited smiles and one step, two;
Ballroom and a mirror ball that looked like the moon.

She danced alone, and masked proudly against another;
She wasnt surprised when her sister couldnt find her stars- scars.
Music swayed the room back and forth, front and center;
Illuminated in the red lights, sparkles through the room,
Was her sister waiting- patiently- to welcome her back home.
