The GORDON STONES in KINCARDINE O' NEIL KIRKYARD
The following tombstone inscriptions are taken from the booklet prepared by Sheila M. Spiers. All 'Gordon' stones are represented here as well as an assortment of stones that are 'possibly connected' or indeed those of other interest:

1. 1848. In memory of FRANCIS MIDDLETON late in Holandbush (sic) d. 27th March 1846 aged 52; MARGARET his spouse d. 28th August 1845 aged 51. Of their sons JOHN d. 13th May 1833 aged 13; FRANCIS d. 18th December 1837 aged 15. Their daughter FANNY d. 2nd March 1849 aged 20; their son WILLIAM d. 10th January 1860 aged 21. MARY BARRON wife of JAMES MIDDLETON d. 1st February 1860 aged 57. Bottom: Erected by their son JAMES farmer Delivard. (Back) Also in memory of said JAMES MIDDLETON farmer Milton of Campfield d. 16th September 1900 aged 80; his wife MARGARET COLLIE GORDON d. Clifton Cottage, Banchory 24th July 1907 aged 71. 1 line text. (Heart) MAGGIE GREIG d. 7th November 1900 aged 31.

2. Erected by JAMES ROSS farmer Little Pittenkerrie in memory of his wife MARGARET DAVIDSON d. 19th March 1896 aged 63. At North Pittenkerrie, Glassel on the 30th of November 1909 JAMES ROSS farmer aged 75. His wife MARGARET GORDON d. North Footie, Torphins 26th October 1928 aged 67.

3. Sacred to the memory of (JOHN?) GORDON late officer of E(xcise) � parted this life 9th March� aged 83yrs� his son JOHN GO(RDON) d. on the 7th February� aged 21. (Also to) the memory� the said�� d. 1st D� and of their�. Who died�. Bottom: This stone was erected by their son? WILLIAM GORDON. (All we could make of a very broken stone)

4. Erected by ROBERT GLASS saddler Kincardine-o-Neil in memory of his wife JANE GORDON d. 22nd of July 1873 aged 62. Their son JAMES GORDON GLASS d. 14th January 1865 aged 8. Said ROBERT GLASS d. 20th April 1899 in 91st year. Their son ROBERT d. Aberdeen 2nd September 1931 aged 81.

5. 1869. Erected by PETER COUTTS in memory of his wife ANN BREBNER d. Cordach 17th November 1868 aged 39. His mother ISABEL GORDON d. there 28th October 1860 aged 72; his daughter ISABELLA d. 9th October 1870 aged 4. His father GEORGE COUTTS d. 13th January 1871 aged 95. PETER COUTTS late farmer Cordach d. 30th March 1872 aged 49; his daughters MARY d. 15th July 1875 aged 15; MARGARET ANN d. 2nd March 1898 aged 39.
