Certainly this Joseph Gordon raised his family at Bovagli, yet surviving details indicate that he may well be a further brother of 'Camlet John.' The circumstantial conclusions for this are indeed strong.
This Joseph Gordon should NOT be confused with Joseph Gordon (1782-1858) who worked the Cosh mill and was the first son of 'Camlet John.'
'Bovagli Joseph' lived a long life. He was born circa 1760, perhaps at Camlet. Like 'Camlet John' and 'Camlet Francis' no parish birth records survive for this period. Still this writer speculates that all three were brothers, and that all three were born at Camlet. Conclusively we can say they were born in Upper Deeside. 'Bovagli Joseph' died in Broughty Ferry circa 1851, he was 90. He gave his occupation as 'Sheep Farmer.'
'Bovagli Joseph' married twice.
On the 27th of July 1788 when Joseph was 28, he first married Rachel TASTARD, in Crathie. Rachel died in 1798-1799.
Joseph Gordon and Rachel Tastard had the following children:
1) John Gordon (1792-1874)
2) Joseph Gordon - born in 1794 in Bovaglie - died at 15 Springfield, Dundee on 15th of March 1881, he was 87. This Joseph Gordon was Butler at Cortachy Castle, he later emigrated aboard the 'Spartan' to Australia, before finally returning to Scotland. He never married. Joseph Gordon was at one time a Baillie in Montrose.
3) James Gordon - born in Bovaglie. Became Gardener at Crawford Priory.
4) Peter Gordon - born in 1798 in Bovaglie. Peter died on 5th June 1821, he was 23. A tombstone in Glenmuick remembers him, He was described on this memorial as a 'Merchant in Kirriemuir.'
On the 24th May 1800 when Joseph was 40, he second married Margaret STEWART, in Crathie. Margaret died in 1852 in Dundee.
Joseph Gordon and Margaret Stewart had the following children:
i. Alexander. Born on March 12, 1801 in Bovaglie.
ii. Robert. Born in 1802 in Bovaglie.
iii. Francis. Born in 1803 in Bovaglie.
iv. Elizabeth. Born in 1804 in Bovaglie.
Elizabeth married John MICHIE.

vii. William. Born in 1815. William died in 1834, he was 19.

2. John GORDON. Born on February 2, 1792 in Bovaglie. John died in Artirhill, Cortachy. Usual Res: Lochee on September 15, 1874, he was 82. Occupation: Linen Merchant Dundee.
On March 13, 1824 when John was 32, he married Mary Rhind.
They had the following children:
i. Elizabeth Rhind. Born in 1825. Elizabeth Rhind died in 1907, she was 82.
Elizabeth Rhind married William C SMITH Reverend.

3. Isobel GORDON. Born in 1808 in Bovaglie. Occupation: Daughter Jane Was Illegitimate.
Isobel married James MILLER.
They had one child:
i. Jane. Born on July 2, 1829.
4. Donald GORDON. Born in 1811 in Bovaglie. Donald died in 24 Baldroam Terrace, Dundee on October 3, 1899, he was 88. Occupation: Grass & Fodder Merchant.
Donald married Margaret ANDERSON, in 1846. Born approx 1821 in St Andrews. Margaret died after 1899, she was 78.
They had the following children:
i. Mary Anne. Born in 1848.
Mary Anne married Robert MAIR.
ii. Margaret. Born in 1850 in Broughty Ferry.
Margaret married John FORBES.

5. Jane GORDON.
Jane married George OGG, son of James OGG & Margaret MASON. Born in 1798. George died in 1858, he was 60.
They had one child:
i. Peter. Born approx 1820 in 5 Jun 1833.

On February 19, 1856 when James was 30, he married Rachel CLARKE, daughter of William CLARKE & Rachel GILFILLAN, in Madderty, Perthshire.
They had the following children:
i. Rachel Mary. Born on March 19, 1857 in Nethergate, Dundee.
ii. Robert Rhind. Born on October 23, 1858 in Nethergate, Dundee.
iii. Mary Gilfillan. Born on November 21, 1860 in Westfield Place, Dundee.
iv. William Clarke. Born on April 15, 1863 in Westfield Place, Dundee.
v. John. Born on September 19, 1865 in Seafield Rd, Dundee.
vi. Catherine Elizabeth. Born on December 21, 1867 in Seafield Rd, Dundee.
vii. Josephine. Born on May 31, 1870 in Seafield Rd, Dundee.
