James Gordon was the FIRST son of Peter Gordon & Margaret McPherson.
In June 1834 when James was 19, he married Ann DONALD, daughter of Alexander DONALD, in Kingoldrum Parish, Angus. Born approx 1819 in Kirriemuir parish. Ann died in Ellesmere, New Zealand on January 2, 1901, she was 82.
They had the following children:
i. Mary. Born on April 6, 1835 in Kingoldrum Parish, Angus.
ii. Alexander. Born on July 1, 1837 in Glamis, Angus.

2. James (James 2) GORDON. Born on November 23, 1839 in Probably in Glamis parish. James (James 2) died in New Zealand in 1915, he was 75. Occupation: 1865 arrived in NZ aboard the 'Greyhound' with wife Grace and 11mth old baby.
On August 1, 1862 when James (James 2) was 22, he married Grace WATSON, daughter of Thomas WATSON & Margaret MATHER, in St Martins, Perth, Scotland. Born on August 4, 1842. Grace died in New Zealand in 1898, she was 55.
