The GORDON STONES in GLENMUICK CHURCHYARD

1. JOHN GORDON Balachour 1798 and MARGARET TAYLOR his spuse (sic). 3 lines text. PETER GORDON and JOHN GORDON.

2. To the memory of SAMUEL GORDON late in Tombreak d. 20th March 1808 aged 63. This tombstone is erected by his son ALEXANDER GORDON who d. Ballater 3rd October 1860 aged 66. JANE daughter of SAMUEL GORDON d. Newton of Tullich 9th May 1874 aged 103. 4 lines motto.

3. In loving memory of PETER GRANT builder Ballater d. 15th June 1914 aged 76; his wife MARY GORDON d. November 1914 aged 68. Their daughter ELIZABETH d. 22nd June 1973. Base: Erected by their family.

4. Sacred to the memory of ALEXANDER GORDON late farmer in Crofts d. 13th March 1847 aged 53; MARY FERGUSON his spouse d. 22nd February 1837 aged 52. Also his two sons WILLIAM and ALEXANDER. Bottom: Erected by WILLIAM GORDON

6. In memory of DONALD GORDON late farmer Aucholzie and ELSPETH DONALD his wife who both d. 1810 aged 80. Their son JAMES GORDON d. 1832 aged 75 and his wife ANN LEYS d.1791, also his second wife d. 1827.

7. Erected to the memory of WILLIAM GORDON farmer Aucholzie d. 12th March 1875 aged 87. Also HELEN FLETCHER his wife d. Ballater 19th March 1900 aged 92. (RHS) And of ANNIE MARGARET WATSON their granddaughter d. Aberdeen 25th July 1884 aged 13.

8. Erected by DAVID STEWART RAMSAY GORDON late merchant Valparaiso in memory of his grandparents PETER GORDON farmer Aucholzie, afterwards in Bellamore d. August 1824 aged 60; EUPHEMIA SMALL his wife d. March 1847 aged 88 and both interred here. Also their daughters: MARY MURRAY d. Australia; JEAN GORDON d. 18th June 1868 aged 81; MARGARET CAMERON widow of JOHN CAMERON d. 17th November 1870 aged 77, above JEAN GORDON and MARGARET CAMERON are both interred here. Also their son SAMUEL GORDON d. 14th December 1864 aged 87 and interred at Brechin.

Major R.G.A. killed in Great War 25th March 1918 aged 39 who is buried in Colin Camp, north of Albert, France. And daughter of Major GORDON, BARBARA MASSON GORDON C.B.,R.R.C., Matron-in-Chief QARANC d. 16th February 1981 aged 68 and buried in St. Andrews

Her two brothers JAMES d. 8th May 1844 aged 19 and JOHN d. in infancy. Also her uncle Rev. JAMES GORDON late schoolmaster Newhills d. 27th August 1834 aged 48. Above JESSIE GORDON d. 23rd October 1894 aged 78.

11. In Memory of JAMES GORDON of Altchillach, Glen Muick d. Aberdeen June 1834; his wife MARY ROBERTSON d. Altchillach 21st January 1837 aged 54. Their son JAMES GORDON d. Newlands, Victoria, Australia 1st September 1871 aged 56.

14. Sacred to the memory of PETER GORDON late merchant Kirrymuir (sic) d. 5th June 1821 aged 22. This stone was erected out of gratitude and affection by his two brothers JOHN and JOSEPH GORDON.

16. In loving memory of GEORGE GORDON (of the Chartered Bank of India) youngest son of WILLIAM GORDON b. Dorsingilly 13th November 1876 - d. London 8th March 1924; his wife FRANCES AYMER b. Inverbervie 22nd April 1889- d. Edinburgh 7th July 1943 and buried Broomhill, Stonehaven.

19. To the memory of CHARLES GORDON Esquire of Abergeldie d. March 1796 and ALISON HUNTER his spouse, of the family of Burnside d. March 1800. They lived together nearly half a century on this part of Deeside. The best parents, giving good example in every way and serving to the utmost of their power all who stood in need. (RHS) Here lies the interred remains of the late PETER GORDON Esquire of Abergeldie, eldest son of CHARLES GORDON Esquire. He succeeded his father in 1796 and d. 6th December 1819 aged 68.

24. Here lies ELIZABETH BROWN spouse of Rev. GEORGE BROWN minister of Glenmuick d. 22nd June 1795 aged 36. Likewise her two infant daughters. Also Rev. GEORGE BROWN d. 24th July 1815 aged 65. Here repose the remains of Mrs ANNE GORDON or BROWN widow of the above named Rev. GEORGE BROWN d. 1st February 1850 in 90th year.

1. In Memory of JANET McANDREW Kintore, Crathie d. 15th May 1870 aged 80 and JOHN FINLAY her son d. 16th October 1889 aged 51.

2. Erected by JOHN and ALEXANDER McANDREW in Australia in memory of their mother JANE COUTTS d. 27th September 1855 aged 65; their father ALEXANDER McANDREW d. 18th July 1864 aged 82. Their sister JANE d. 20th August 1840 aged 15, their brother JAMES d. 15th March 1845 aged 21 and MARY d. in infancy.

3. 1864. Erected by WILLIAM PRINGLE baker in Ballater in memory of his sons ALEXANDER d. 8th February 1847 aged 3; WILLIAM d. 8th October 1858 aged 1. Said WILLIAM PRINGLE d. 19th March 1870 aged 55, his wife MARGARET McANDREW d. 24th October 1898 aged 78. CATHERINE widow of ALBERT STEWART d. 22nd November 1943 aged 84.
