This George Ogg (1798-1858) was a Cattle Dealer in Glen Tanner. He seems to have been of some wealth. Before his death he returned to the family Inns at Cambus o'May and Heughead, Aboyne.

Although on his Death Certificate he is recorded as 'single' - this cannot tell the full story. In 1820 he had an illegitimate son Peter, to Jane Gordon (daughter of 'Camlet Joseph') The memorial in Kirkton of Aboyne was raised to remember poor young Peter Ogg who died at the tender age of 13yrs.

Then later in his Testament he talks of another son James Ogg (the informant on his death certificate) who (I quote)
"my son James OGG by the said Elizabeth OGG" ...earlier he stated Elizabeth OGG as "Innkeeper at Heughead, Aboyne"

It seems likely that James Ogg WAS married to 'Elizabeth Ogg' but that they had lived apart. He left her to live in Liferent on the Interest of his estate, which on Elizabeth's death was to be given (in total) to his son James (unless he predeceased his mother, in which case it was to be divided amongst a nephew & neice)
