| January 9, 2004 End of 18th Week, Beginning of 19th Week--almost five months pregnant! Well it's Friday night and I'm spending it watching tv and messing around on the internet. School started back this week and it's nice to be back in a routine, but it sucks to get up early in the morning again. Oh well! I realized over the break that since we started back to school so early (mid August) that we get out of school early---graduation is May 18--my nephew David's birthday. That means that I get a good twenty or so days to rest and get ready for baby (due date--June 11). I'm so glad. I plan to hide out at the house and float in the pool and get some sun (hope the redneck neighbors won't take any pics of me in my bathingsuit. Nasty!) This week, in baby development news: "Your baby continues to grow. At week 18, it is about five inches long, crown to rump." Next week it will grow up to six inches or so. "Hair is sprouting. Nerve cells serving the senses are developing." Uterus Newz My uterus is the size of a cantelope now. Fascinating. Oh, and I read about how you can put two fingers below your bellybutton and feel the uterus--this is where it is right now (or rather, where I am) and next week it will be one finger under the bellybutton. And so on--it keeps on rising... We decided not to take the Triple Screen test--too many false positives have been reported. No need to freak out until you have to, is my motto. I've been having more round ligament pains tonight---just a lot of pressure too. My bean bag at school (behind my desk) has been a big help with this---the best way to deal with the pain is to lie on the opposite side you are having the pain on, and I've had to do that at school a couple of times. The kids at school are starting to notice my bump growing and I know I must be walking a little slower because of the soreness of my stretching bod. They seem very "motherly", which touches me--things like arranging my pillow on my big chair, or taking things up for me, or lifting things I can't lift. It almost makes me cry! :) Hard to Stomach! I can no longer sleep on my stomach, which makes me sad--that is my all time favorite sleeping position. Now it's side sleeping, which isn't easy with another person in bed, one dog on your side, a long body pillow, and occasionally another dog (Frank) joining you. I have a feeling I'll be like my good friend Jan towards the end of the pregnancy---camped out in the guest bedroom! :) Speaking of good friends--it was so good talking to you Jan, and to you Adrianne on Sunday. We need to do that more often. Off to lay down...on my side. last next |

| Below: How big my uterus is. No wonder I'm feeling sooo much pressure and heaviness down there. I think my cantelope is sitting right on my bladder---already!!! This worries me. Will I have to pee this much until JUNE???? |
