Summer

Cloud formations of sailboats
Float across the sky
Escaping bubbles
Kiss the sun and melt

Soft green grass
Crumples under running feet
Children of Innocence
Search for butterflies among bright flowers
And a peaceful smile crosses your face
As you watch another sailboat drift by
Morning Glory

A walk into the thick woods
On a bright Spring day
Erases
The memories of a cold, dark winter
Bring the birds out to sing
A delighful song for you
Puts the lies and the hurt in perspective

As a new flower
Spreads its petals for the beginning
Of a hopeful season
Lost

I wonder if a single grain of sand
Could be swept up from the beach in a fierce wind

Lost from its home
Traversing unnamed areas

I wonder if you could catch that speck
On the palm of your hand
As you captured my Heart
One amongst the many grains of sand
Owl

A sunset painted with every hue
Splashing flecks of gold and pink onto the water
Coloring the fish underneath
A purplish tone
They rise to the surface to catch a glimpse
Of the last bit of light
While the owls nestled in the branches
Spread lofty wings and awaken
To turn their yellow eyes toward a new moon
Uncertainty

Do I dare dance with luck
On this dark dance floor
Dare step out from the shadows
To twirl and spin
To give
Never knowing if I shall receive
As I stand in the corner
I ask myself
In a small whisper
Am I willing to dance again?
Noise

Scared eyes dart around
Seeking the solace
Seeking the peace
From a crowded room filled with noise
A crowded world filled with clutter
No empty spaces
To sit and think
About the lack of love
In a world so big
Open

He turns his eyes downward
Feels a pain
Then closes them tightly
Too afraid to open them again
To look into Her eyes
Knowing Her thoughts
Is too much for him to bear
He longs for Her to lie to him
To say the words he wishes to hear
But nothing audible comes out of Her mouth
And he feels the pain again
Almost ready to open his eyes
To confirm his sorrow
As he suddenly feels a pair of soft lips
Against his own
Proclaiming their love

And he opens his eyes
Pale

A single white candle
Flickers on suddenly
Lit by an invisible presence
In the middle of an empty room
It faintly exposes the cobwebs
Which have sheltered every corner
From the dreadful secret
Kept locked away in the room
Suddenly the floor creaks
As an unperceived dancer
Takes a step and uses the slowly dying candlelight
To ultimately conclude
Her unfinished final dance
