The cheat code for CXC
(Yeah right we all wish)
However here are some study tips that should ensure that your fully prepared for the CXC examinations:
First and foremost Put God first! He made you and knows how to bring the best out of you.Ask him for his guidance before you start studying daily and for a calm spirit and insight during the actual examinations. Remember Except the Lord build the house they labour in vain that build it.(Psalm127::1 first part).
-
Next start studying from early. The earlier you start studying the better you chances of getting all 1's and the lesser the stress as it draws near to exam time.
-
Big advice for forth formers start studying from the summer before fifth form. Try as best as possible to cover your syllabi (plural of syllabus) over the summer.Chances are the teacher won't be able to complete the syllabus as she/he wanted to due to the many activities between January and May(S.B.A's Mock Exams, School activities, holidays)and you will be set at a disadvantage. So if you really consider it you will notice that you only have Sept-December for serious learning in class.
-
Fifth formers if you haven't started studying yet you need to start immediately. Try as best as possible to complete the syllabus on your own before April the LATEST of the following year.
-
Pay attention in class. Don't just mindlessly take down the notes in class try to understand what you're writing while you're writing. Ask questions if you do not understand something.
-
As soon as you reach home from school reread your notes. If you refresh your memory with what you learned in class within 24 hours of learning, it is kept in the memory longer and it is less stressing that reading notes longer after and be saying stuff like "I wrote this?"
-
If you're going to form a study group keep it down to three SERIOUS members.
-
Practice past papers so as to get familiar with the format of the exam and to get an understanding of how the questions are set generally.
-
After finishing the syllabus start working on your speed in completing a paper.
-
Practice drawing graphs and diagrams you will be required to draw in the exam. This saves time in the exam because don't have to think much.
-
Bring hard questions you do not understand to teachers so they can explain it to you.
-
Be positive. You can, you can, you can. You can do those complicated math problems if you tell yourself "Hey I'm not going to fail this subject after studying it for so long!"Apply yourself and ask God to deal with the rest He will take care of it for you. Remember you can do all things through Christ which strengthens you.
