English Springer Spaniel Description

Picture of a typical English Springer with long hair and a docked tail.

English Springer Spaniels are medium sized dogs.  Their height is usually about twenty inches or fifty      centimeters.  Their weight is about fifty pounds or twenty-three kilograms with a docked tail.  A docked tail is when they cut the dog's tail off to about three to four inches long.  Their coat is moderately long with feathering on their legs, ears, and chest.  English Springer Spaniels are usually liver (brown) or black with white markings.  They  can also be mostly white with liver or black markings.  English Springer Spaniels usually live to about twelve to fourteen years.  They can catch eye diseases, like hemophilia, ear infections, and arthritis can show up in old age.

English Springer Spaniels are loyal and affectionate dogs.  They are good with children and mix well with other dogs and people.  English Springer Spaniels are great companions and eager and active working dogs.  They are good alarm dogs and adapt to town and city life well.

English Springer Spaniels need to work and have hard exercise regularly.  They love to be in water which results in constantly being wet and muddy.

I have an English Springer Spaniel who is three years old and her name is Lacey.  She is mostly white with a liver mask on her head and a liver spot on her tail.  Lacey is a great dog.  She is always there when I need her and she follows my commands.  Lacey is good around children and mixes well with other dogs and people.  She definitely is a guard dog because whenever someone or something is near our house, she starts barking so much.  Lacey loves to play ball.  She will chase her ball all day long.  She is go go go twenty four seven.  Lacey loves to be in the water, which means I have to dry her off when she comes out.
