| PRACTICE - 8/26 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, It was sure good to see the boys out practicing. It was warm out there though.
NICK, Yep, but they worked hard. Some nice goals. They moved the ball around pretty well. Hope David Rauer is okay after the shot he took.. STEVEN, Well, wonder what we will look like this Fall? NICK, Things started to shape up at the end of the Season. STEVEN, An addition or two at the close of the Season looked promising. NICK, Yeah, and if all our injured players recover and return, maybe we can get it together. STEVEN, Hopefully everyone will return in playing shape, committed and sober! NICK, Let's not get too carried away! STEVEN, Maybe Frank Ottinger will have found what he's been looking for and return with new inspiration!. NICK, Really, I hope the boys did some fitness work over the Summer, but...... STEVEN, Yeah, I'm sure they did but how do strong elbows help? Any new additions to the roster? NICK, Well there is Doug Steele and David Rennie, who who helped out at the end of the Spring. Tim Dewey has a new guy Kevin Stasi and Bryan Toff, a 35 year old striker. Frank Ottinger has a prospect, Franny Palo, who played for St. Joe's. STEVEN, Well that puts us over 26. I guess Ron will need to make some difficult roster decisions. |

| GIBBSBORO II @ MANTUA - 9/9 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, It was sure good to see the boys out in numbers today. It was warm out there though. Yeah, but the new Jerseys inspired them!
THAT SURE WAS NICE OF JOHN MONTEITH! NICK, YES IT WAS! They worked hard and subbed well. Mantua did not have that many subs. They moved the ball around pretty well for the first game. I heard some of their players went to the Gibbs2 field, guess they don't communicate too well! STEVEN, I talked to Dan, and he was upset with that goal in the first quarter, he was back-peddaling, just miss timed it. The boys never give up though and they responded well. NICK, Mantua had a couple chances in the second quarter, but the defense held their own! STEVEN, Frank Ottinger had that great run in the third quarter and slotted that ball to the right for Glenn. Glenn was all alone and put it just inside the post. That was pretty! NICK, Mantua seemed to be running out of steam until then and then picked it up. The boys responded though for awhile, but there were more than a few chances for Mantua. Frank Sirch did a great job filling in after Dan left at the end of the second with his shoulder injury. Frank had some tough work and did a great job! STEVEN, I guess there were ten minutes left when David Rauer popped the second one in for the boys. Then the pressure was on. NICK, Some of the boys wanted to fold and play defense, but that did not seem to happen. There were a few opportunities at both ends of the field, but the boys prevailed! All I remember is Gregg yelling "DEFENSE, DEFENSE AND COUNTING DOWN THE TIME!!!!!!!!! See you next week in Sewell! |

| GIBBSBORO II @ SEWELL - 9/16 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, The Boys came out in numbers again today. Last week they had 23 this week it was 22! It sure did help!
NICK, Sewell didn't have near as many subs, and they were really young and quick, but the boys used the subs well! STEVEN, One mistake in the first quarter put the boys behind by one, and they were seemed to be a little shaken by the speed of the Sewell Boys, but they held on. NICK, The Boys continued to battle both offensively and defensively. There was a bit of trouble holding the ball in the midfield. The middle of the field was hard and the ball bounced quite a bit. Tim Fornes kept the boys in the game. STEVEN, It was quite a match, the play was end to end with both teams having opportunities. NICK, The Boys put the pressure on in the 4th and had two great opportunities,but... Then finally, Brett picked up the ball in the box and put in the old oinion bag! STEVEN, Yep, there were 3 minutes to go and they tied it. Play was end to end after that with both teams trying to get the 3 points. NICK, Yeah, I think both teams were counting down the minutes. |

| HAINESPORT @ GIBBSBORO II - 9/23 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, The Boys came out with fewer numbers today. Final count was 19 after Glen and David Rauer arrived. Week 1 they had 23 and last week it was 22!
NICK, Hainesport didn't have near as many subs but they held in there, but it was 0 - 0 at the half! STEVEN, Hainesport seemed to press in the 3rd and the boys gave up a couple. One off a set piece and one defensive error. They got one back when Christian popped one from a distance, high into the sun. Everyone heard their Keeper yelling I can't see it, even after it was in the net! NICK, The Boys continued to battle both offensively and defensively in the 3rd, but there was a bit of trouble getting the ball up to the forwards. That continued in the 4th. STEVEN, Yep, in the 4th,They just couldn't get out of their end of the field and hainesport did a tune on them! NICK, The Boys fell apart in the 4th, even with all their subs! STEVEN, Yep, they did, I don't understand, they did so well the last two weeks. NICK, They just don't have the nose for goal, the scrapper and there were opportunities. Don't know if you noticed, Dan went over and paid the cute little lines person at the end of the game. The othe other team was sure impressed! |

| GIBBSBORO II @ DEPTFORD - 9/30 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, The Boys came out with more numbers today. Final count was 23, but they had no fire power, they missed a number of opportunities.
NICK, Deptford didn't have near as many subs, but they had the speed. Dan wants that breakaway back from the first quarter, or one step on the speed he use to have, not sure which? Frank O. called him off but he had already made his commitment! STEVEN, Still one nothing at the half, with play going end to end. The lads just could not take advantage of the chances they had. NICK, The boys continued their efforts as the third began, but gave up another. The play continued end to end, and there were a number of opportunities, but...........no result. STEVEN, They never give up, but they have a heck of a time scoring! NICK, I think they need to find a day and place to get together and practice each week. STEVEN, Yep, they do, four games and only four goals is not going to cut it. NICK, They just don't have the nose for goal, the speed, the scrapper and there were opportunities. Where will they find the goals?? |

| CINNAMINSON @ GIBBSBORO II - 10/07 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, The Boys came out in numbers today, while Cinnaminson started shorthanded. But the boys didn't capitalize on the opportunities they had in the 1st Q.
NICK, Cinnaminson started to pick up players as the 1st Q continued, and came out a bit stronger in the 2nd Q. Dan stopped a break away, but the deflection was picked up and put in the old onion bag straight away. STEVEN, The boys responded with a couple opportunities, but Cinnaminson came back twice. One cross goal shot hit the post just ahead of Dan's outstretched fingers. That was 2! The next was a break away which Dan stopped and Frank did a great job coming back to clean up for a goal kick! NICK, The boys continued their efforts in the third and fourth, and there were a number of opportunities, but AGAIN...........no result. STEVEN, They never give up, but they have a heck of a time scoring! NICK, Yep, 5 games 4 goals, what more can I say! STEVEN, Yep, if you don't score, you can't win! NICK, The Spring they had poor attendance and seemed to be a bit more competitive. Now they have overwhelming attendance and they just can't score. STEVE, They just don't have the nose for goal, the speed, the scrapper and AGAIN there were opportunities. Where will they find the goals?? |

| MOORESTOWN II @ GIBBSBORO II - 10/14 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, The Boys came out in numbers again today, while Moorestown had no subs. Kris Ekstrom scored the first one in the 1st and the boys had other opportunities, but....
NICK, The 2nd, was a different story with Moorestown making the best of a breakaway. STEVEN, The boys responded with Tim Fornes making it 2 - 1 in the 3rd. NICK, The boys were more effective most of the day, but in the 4th, Moorestown had another breakaway. It hit the post and there was someone there to bang it home. STEVEN, They never gave up, they kept pounding the rest of the 4th, but the boys survived! It wasn't pretty though! NICK, After 5 games 4 goals, the boys score 3, what more can I say! STEVEN, Did you see that hit Glenn took? It was something. I hope he is okay! He really didn't seem to remember it! NICK, I thought he was kidding, but after awhile I wasn't sure. Hope he is okay! STEVE, Well, see you in Northern Burlington next week. |

| GIBBSBORO II @ NORTHERN BURLINGTON - 10-21 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, The Boys had fewer numbers today, only 18 with Nigel and Fran Palo coming out. A number of guys showed late.
NICK, Northern Burlington numbers like the Boys have had since the Season started. STEVEN, Play was fast paced and end to end in the first, but Northern Burlington struck first on a crossing ball scooting through the box about 8 yards out. It went right to the feet of a NB forward and home it went. NICK, The Boys held their own in the second. Dan came big on a deflection of the wall on a direct free kick. STEVEN, John Woodward, who tried hard to score on Dan in the 1st, was successful in the 3rd. He was quite upset to say the least. NICK, No long after that, a ball crossed at about the 20 and the NB player that received it slammed it home. It was a nice shot with awesome power. I think Dan wants that one back. STEVEN, All in all the Boys were pretty dejected today! It was fairly quiet between the quarters. NICK, Once again, they can't seem to find the net. In their defense, the new goalie on Northern Burlington is young, fast and very aggressive. He did take control of his box and stopped some the Boys thought were headed where they wanted. STEVE, Well, next week is Mount Holly at home, see you there. |

| MOUNT HOLLY @ GIBBSBORO II - 10-28 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, Sounds like this was not the game we should have missed. From what I have heard, the boys had their best performance of the Season.
NICK, I heard it was a feisty game with a few very tense situations. The refs were on top of it though. STEVEN, I got a call from Tommy and he said there were a few fights and a couple red cards handed out! Tommy said the game was " awesome!" NICK, I expected a number of reports, but I guess the boys are still celebrating. STEVEN, Well, I finally caught up with one of the boys and got a quick interview. I just had to talk to someone! NICK, Well don't keep me waiting, it sounded awesome, what did you get! STEVEN, Tim Dewey gave me the following report: "A gorgeous fall day after torrential rain provided the setting for Gibbs Two to compete against the leaders of the division . The game got off to a feisty start and during the first quarter Brett was brought down in a very questionable call for a penalty awarded to the home team. Bobby calmly stepped to the spot and nailed a goal home with perfect precision. Following the penalty kick one of the Mount Holly players was sent off. However after a meeting with the refs and Ron during the interval, somehow a reversal of the Red card was negotiated. Ron must have had more confidence in our abilities then maybe the rest of us did!!! We appreciate your confidence Ron... Mount Holly's first goal came after a corner kick. A deflection off a gibbs player and a tap in at zero yards.. Gibbs then put on the pressure and provided a number goal scoring opportunities to put the game away. If the sky was the target we would have scored another three!!! However, the good news is that the team got into more offensive positions than in any game so far this season. The second goal came from a carefully crafted cross/shot from Stump that went over the goalies head.. Mount Holly then tied the game in the fourth due to some poor marking in the defensive zone that left a player open on the six.. A few minutes later one of the Mt Holly players decided to react to a shoulder to shoulder with Dave Rauer by jumping on his back and trying to strangle him.. The ref quickly stepped in with a Red card with the Mount Holly player still hanging on Dave.. About five minutes from time the Gibbs team provided our goal of the season with a superb four player move from the center of the field to the left wing with a great cross I think from Stump/Christian and then a diving header from Frank Ottinger burying the ball in the back of the net.. Other notes.. A game isn't a game with Christian going face to face with another player and he didn't disappoint this game.. He did however back off thus letting the My Holly player get the Yellow Card.. After the game .. when Frank was questioned on his diving header he said " I trust my head more than I trust my feet" NICK, I heard that the final cross came from Christian, not Stump, but I have not seen the ESPN Highlights. Away next week at the NEW Laurel Springs Field. See you there! |

| LAUREL SPRINGS @ GIBBSBORO II 11-04 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, Both teams came out on fire today. It was a shock it was 0 - 0 after the first quarter. Both teams had chances.
NICK, Things didn't look good after Laurel Springs scored first in the Second Quarter. They struck again just a bit later in the Second, but the Boys never gave up. STEVEN, Frank picked up Stumps corner and put it in the back of the net, bringing the Boys within one. NICK, Early in the Third, another Stump corner, I think, found Brett and he found the net. So the Boys went in level at the end of the third. STEVEN, After a rough start in the fourth the Boys settled down. Ted did a nice job filling in in goal. Christian picked up a ball on the left and put it in the opposite side of the net to put the Boys up 3 - 2. NICK, After that it wasn't pretty, but the Boys held on to the lead. STEVEN, The Boys had a lot of opportunities, but they did not take advantage of them. NICK, They will get there. It is coming, a little slow but it is coming. STEVEN, Well this week will be a challenge. They have Sewell at home. NICK, They pulled out a tie against them at their place. Yeah Brett got the goal they needed late in the game. Steven, The Boys have to focus on scoring first, and not coming from behind. Nick, See you at home. Ron said we probably can't use the football field, so we'll be on the Spring field. |

| SEWELL @ GIBBSBORO II - 11-11 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, Sewell did their damage in the first quarter, and the Boys helped a bit with the own goal.
NICK, The Boys settled in after the 1st, but you could see Sewell was a bit quicker to the ball and on the through balls. STEVEN, The Boys had their opportunites, but........... NICK, 0 - 0 in the second, the Boys held off the speedy Sewell Boys. STEVEN, The Boys picked up a Penalty kick in the 3rd and after three tries finally Christian decided to put it in the net. NICK, A few corners after that, but no results. STEVEN, The 4th started with the Sewell Boys dominating, not what the Boys wanted. NICK, The Boys started to settle in as time went on. STEVEN, Play started to move to the other end of the field. NICK, Late in the 4th the Boys had a couple opportunities, but.... Steven, Sean had the best chance, but it ended in only a corner, which the Boys failed to do anything with. Nick, Next week we are away at Moorsetown II. |

| GIBBSBORO II @ MOORESTOWN II - 11/18 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STEVEN, Moorestown did most of their damage in the first quarter. The Boys didn't help themselves as a number of players were a bit late. Once they were there things leveled off.
NICK, The two goals Moorestown got in the first were enough. Dan wants the first one back, he stopped a breakaway, but couldn't find the ball before Moorestown popped it in! No chance on the second shot for anyone. It was driven hard one side to the other off the crossbar and in! STEVEN, Dan scooped one out that was going just inside the post and dislocated his finger in the process.(He tells me his palm is swollen and black and blue under the ring and pinky fingers, but he has a cold can of beer he's wrapping his hand around)! NICK, Moorestown added to their lead in the second, but the Boys showed some signs of getting it together. STEVEN, Greg finally put one in in the 3rd, but one was not enough. NICK, Things were were starting to move for the Boys, but they just couldn't find the back of the net. STEVEN, They never gave up, and pressed until the end of the game. NICK, There was the gaol in the second that was called back due to a foul, that could have made a difference as well. STEVEN, Play started to move to the other end of the field. NICK, They have a lot of new additions and they are starting to find each other so..... STEVEN, There are only three games left, so they need to continue to work on melding as a team, so we can look to good things in the Spring. NICK, Next week we are home against Laurel Springs. |

| STEVE, SORRY WE MISSED THIS ONE! A SHUTOUT WITH THREE GOALS FOR!
NICK, SOUNDS LIKE TIM AND FRANK DID A GREAT JOB IN GOAL! STEVE, CAN'T WAIT TO GET SOME MORE DETAILS. NICK, I GOT SOME NOTES FROM TIM DEWEY: Otto scored the other goal I believe so we had two headers ( Greg and Otto) and one classic play ending with a far post nudge in ( not his head this time) from Frank O. Don't know ref name, however he let the play flow, calling very little.. Christian was up to his normal tricks with a toe to toe confrontation with one of their players after a little tussle.. Tim Fornes played Q 1 and Q2 in goal with little pressure. ( Tim played up front in the second half dazzling us with some of his lightening moves) Frank Sirch played in Q3 and Q4 and had a little more action and produced a couple of nice saves. First Q ended 0-0 with Gibby @ having multiple opportunities to score. The Laurel Springs goalie got most of his exercise in the first and Second Quarter having to make numerous ball collection runs from the wayward shots. |
