Ken: You didn't sleep last night?
Giaan: Ahh ... took a sleeping tablet at about 1.30 and was out like a light from then on. I had about 9 and 1/2 hours sleep ... so ... [laughs and smiles]
Ken and Michael smile.
[showing footage of the win]
Michael: Yeah, well we've obviously have a great tradition in that relay and obviously being the favourites and world record holders we were expecting to do well and ya know, we had 4 guys that swum their best, I mean that's our best split, so we really deserved it and obviously we're delighted to come through with the win.
Ken: Now when it's all over was there a tempatation - will we jump in the pool or won't we?
Michael: We were going to scare Don [Talbot] for a while and just do a bit of an attempt to, but no, we decided to play by the rules tonight.
Ken: What do you guys talk about before you go out for that race, is there much conversation between you or do you all know what you gotta do?
Michael: It's actually very funny, last night, um, we were very relaxed, I don't think we've been that relaxed for a while and we were actually ... ahh .. I can't even remember what we were talkin' about, we were just stading behind the blocks having a normal chat and um, I think that's the best time when y'know, you can approach it that way sorta be relaxed and comfortable about the situation and um, prove y'know that we are the best.
Ken: Okay, Giaan you are wearing a daffodil tonight and that's for a very special person.
Giaan: Yeah, it actually has 2 meanings for us, most of the Australian teams are wearing them, um, one it's for Daffodil Day which is promoting cancer and the second is we're just throwing a meaning to Nicole Stevenson's family after the death of her mother, I think yesterday, and we just want her to know that our thoughts are with them.
Ken: A lovely gesture from the team, a lovely gesture from both of you. Thankyou Michael, Thankyou Giaan
Giaan: Thanks Ken
Ken: And Congratulations on what has been a wonderful meeting.
Giaan: Thankyou.
Michael: Thankyou.
