***Courses completed to satisfy this requirement shall include World Geography or World History to 1500 AD or World History: 1500 AD to Present, U.S. and Virginia History, and U.S. and Virginia Government.
****Galax City Public Schools requirement to be met through either a computer course or competency test.
*****One credit in fine arts (band, chorus, music, art, speech and drama) or one credit in the practical arts (agriculture, business, family and consumer science, auto service technology, or I.C.T.) must be completed.
******Courses to satisfy this requirement shall include at least two sequential electives.
VERIFIED CREDITS:
Of the total credits shown above, students in the class of 2006 must earn a minimum of six verified credits, two English and any four others. Beginning with the class of 2007, the six verified credits must include two English, one math, one science, one social studies and one credit of the students choosing. (See verified credit section.)
SEQUENTIAL ELECTIVES:
A Standard Diploma requires at least two sequential electives and may include a concentration of courses selected from a variety of options. Such concentration is planned to ensure the completion of a focused sequence of elective courses leading to further education or preparation for employment.
