| SEALS: Students with an average grade of �A� will receive a Board of Education Seal on the Standard Diploma. Students who graduate with an average grade of �B� or better and successfully complete at least one Advanced Placement course (AP) or one college level course for credit will receive a Governor�s Seal on the Advanced Studies Diploma. The Board of Education�s Career and Technical Education Seal will be awarded to students who earn the Standard or Advanced Studies Diploma and � complete a prescribed sequence of courses in a career and technical education specialization and maintain a �B� or better average in those courses or � pass an examination in a career and technical education concentration or specialization that confers certification from a recognized industry, trade, or professional association or � acquire a professional license in that career and technical education field from the Commonwealth of Virginia The Board of Education�s Seal of Advanced Mathematics and Technology will be awarded to students who earn four units of credit including Algebra II and earn 2 verified units of credit and � pass an examination in a career and technical education concentration or specialization that confers certification from a recognized industry, trade, or professional association or � acquire a professional license in that career and technical education field from the Commonwealth of Virginia or � pass an examination approved by the Board that confers college-level credit in technology or a computer science area. SPECIAL DIPLOMA: In accordance with the requirements of the Standards of Quality, students with disabilities who complete the requirements of their Individualized Education Program (IEP) and do not meet the requirements for other diplomas shall be awarded Special Diplomas. COLLEGE COURSES: Students may take a college level course for high school graduation and/or college credit under the following conditions: (a) prior written approval from the high school principal for the dual registration, (b) the college must accept the student(s) for admission to the course, and (c) the course must be given by the college for degree credit, hence no remedial courses will be accepted. Students are responsible for purchasing college textbooks and lab manuals. Dual credit courses use the grading scale assigned by the Virginia Community College System. |
