PROGRAMS: Students may elect from a wide range of academic, technical preparation, and developmental course offerings. ACCREDITATION: Galax City Schools are accredited by the Virginia State Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. CLASS SCHEDULE: A school day consists of four blocks. All students must sign up for a full class schedule, which may consist of six or seven classes. SCHEDULE CHANGES: No schedule change will be made during the first four days of school, except for obvious error. Changes will be made during the 5th through the 16th day of school. Dropping a course requires the following: (a)Conference with a counselor (b)Teacher recommendation (c)Parental approval (d)Principal approval If a course is dropped after the last drop day, a grade of WF (withdrawn and failed) is recorded on the scholastic record. A WF is computed as 0 points toward the grade point total. A course dropped before the deadline is not recorded on the scholastic record. The principal may change a schedule after the drop date if extenuating circumstances exist. GRADING: A (93-100) Excellent INC - Incomplete B (85-92) Above Average NE - No effort on exams C (77-84) Average EXP - Exempt from exams D (70-76) Below Average WF - Withdrawn and failed F (below 70) Unsatisfactory. |
