| INDUSTRIAL COOPERATIVE TRAINING (A Career Cluster Program) Industrial Cooperative Training is a part-time work training program in which qualified junior and senior students earn a wage while preparing for gainful employment at the entry level in the technical, trade, health, or service occupations of their choice. Participation in Skills USA, the youth organization for trade and industrial education students, is considered part of the curriculum. ICT students must be 16 years of age by September 1 of current school year. Because of the time commitment and scheduling conflicts, ICT is not recommended for cheerleaders and other student athletes. A two year program, ICT usually begins in the student's junior year of high school and continues through the senior year. Students are required to have a year-long work experience with an approved employer, working 10-15 hours each week. Failure to do so will result in no credit for the course. Upon successful completion of the two year program, a student is awarded a VOCATIONAL COMPLETER CERTIFICATE. Seniors enrolled in the ICT-SIP (Senior Intensified Program) may also earn the Vocational Completer Certificate when employed in an occupational career in which entry-level skills may be learned in one year Industrial Cooperative Training I (Prerequisite: Teacher Recommendation, Tech Prep Sequence) Grade level: 11 (Standard Weight/2 credits) ICT I combines supervised on-the-job training, technically related study, and generally related study to give high school juniors work experience and entry level skills upon graduation. Curriculum includes job search skills, job preservation skills, tax preparation, money management, and independent studies within the field of employment. Periodic evaluation of on-the-job training is conducted by the ICT coordinator. Industrial Cooperative Training II (Prerequisite: ICT I, Tech Prep Sequence) Grade level: 12 (Standard Weight/2 credits) ICT II is a continuation of the combined instruction used in the ICT I curriculum. Curriculum includes employee-employer relationships, understanding partnerships, corporations and monopolies, and advanced independent studies within the field of training. Periodic evaluation of on-the-job training is conducted by the ICT coordinator. Industrial Cooperative Training - SIP (Prerequisite: Teacher Recommendation) Grade level: 12 )Standard Weight/2 credits) ICT-SIP is a one-year intensified program designed to meet the needs of seniors having an interest in an occupational career in which entry-level skills may be learned in one year. |
