APPALACHIAN INTER-MOUNTAIN SCHOLARS PROGRAM (AIM SCHOLARS)

Students scheduled to graduate in the year 2003 and after have the opportunity to be designated as APPALACHIAN INTER-MOUNTAIN SCHOLARS, a regional program sponsored by area business and industry, to recognize academic and personal achievement.  Students may choose to be AIM Scholars to help assure that their high school education will prepare them for the work force and enable them to compete for meaningful jobs.

Students who graduate as AIM Scholars must complete a specific curriculum that provides a high level of skills and readiness for the labor market and higher education.  AIM Scholars are recognized annually during their high school years.  At an awards celebration in the spring of the senior year, these students will receive special recognition.  A directory of AIM Scholars may also be provided to area employers upon graduation.

The requirements for the AIM Scholar recognition program are listed below.

EXPECTATIONS
1.  A C will be the minimum acceptable grade to stay in the program.
2.  School attendance must be 95% or greater to be recognized as an AIM Scholar.
3.  An out-of-school suspension will result in removal from program recognition for that year.
4. Students must complete 20 hours of community service.
