| When people start to think about Buddhism, they will think its too passive or too religious. According what people will see from their first impression in a Buddhist temple is the praying. It's always the praying rituals. Ofcourse when we see these movements to pray to the Buddha, you will think that we are admiring and adoring a God. But it isn't quite that simple. I will use my words and some experience reflections of life to try to explain what the purposes are of Buddhism. Almost everybody know that Buddha was born in India as Prince Siddartha. As prince, he gave up everything of the royal kingdom and went into the world to find liberation from the sufferings of life and the lifes after, circle of rebirth. Buddhism was born from the sufferings of life. Life starts ends with Birth, getting older, sickness and finally we all will face death. As you might know, that there are really a lot of painfull obstacles in life. Buddhism provides a lot of methods to face these obstacles and then overcome them. The paradigma or the model of Buddhism is to overcome suffering of this circle of life The Western Scientific world has already a lot of methods to cure diseases and pain. These forms are also Buddhist teachings. We have to find many methods to save the sentient beings in the world. Even by curing diseases is already a small relieve of suffering of this impermanent physical body. When I was comparing the western psychology of interpretation, I discovered that Buddha wanted you to changed your view first of subject of life. Like when you change your perspective of something you might feel different if you stimulate your flexible views. Mentally we also can suffer a lot. Buddhism can help you to overcome the mental suffering. As we are really busy in our daily life we forgot to take care of our mind. Letting everything what we do drag away our mind. Conquering our mind back is one of the goals of buddhism. Finding our mind back and put it in the correct middle path is the way of overcoming sufferings of the mind. Often we will been chased by many obstacles like several emotions; anger, desire, sadness, lonliness, fear and so on. Just putting your mind in a different flexible view can already manage to change your feelings about something. Correct View is also the first step of the Noble Eightfold Path. But the most important and effective method that I use is NON-judgement. Just keep my silence and penetrate throught the first impressions and situation. Then I will find more effective information about the situation. Then I have two views. One is the reality what we have from the first impression and the second view born from deeper looking. This way of looking you have the perfect reality behind the whole situation. So, when we are feeled to judge something, please make sure that you will look deeper. Then you will have compassion. To look deeper in every situation, takes a lot of PATIENCE. That's why the practice of PATIENCE OR MEDITATION is meant for these. We have to have calm mind to look deeper. Sometimes I get angry to, so the first step is to become calm again, with the help of looking deeper. Then after I cooled down. I can have the correct thought and so a correct speech and action. It always starts by ourselves. |
