PRICE: $50 per day (includes catered lunch). $225 for the weekend (includes lodging, catered breakfast, lunch, and dinner). REFERENCES FROM PAST ATTENDEES ______________________________________________________ Dave Marshal, the owner of www.elkridgeresort.net , called me and asked about our class. He eventually came to Indianapolis and participated in one of our training sessions. He fit right in, and made an offer for us to start "mini-training camps" at his hunting resort in Shoals Indiana. Our first camp was a great success. We arrived late Friday night, and met Dave at the restaurant / bar. I was in awe from the time I arrived to the time I left! The restaurant has got to be on it's way to serving the best steak in the state, and I am speaking from experience! At the restaurant, there is even a 4'x8' open pit grill where you can cook your own burger or steak. There is a silo connected to the restaurant that has been converted into a theater where you can play pool, or eat your food while watching the 16' big screen. (Saturday night, we watched Enter the Dragon, and 6 hours of NHB fight footage, while enjoying our steak.) We then drove up to the Lodge, where Dave showed us where we would be staying. I was expecting a little log cabin, so I got quite a surprise when I saw THE LODGE. We began TRAINING around 9am Saturday morning. At around 1:00pm, Dave cooked Elk burgers on the grill. The guys all grubbed out, and went out on the deck to let their food settle a bit before resuming our training. While out there, some of the guys took part in a little target practice with a .22 rifle (there were targets set up in the woods just off the deck). We stopped training at about 5pm. Afterwards, Dave took us to feed the ELK. It was very nice. My only regret was that my family wasn't there to share the experience. My kids would have loved it. Saturday night, there was a live Grateful Dead tribute band out on the lawn. Day two went about the same, with the exception that Dave made an Elk Rice Teriyaki which was very good as well. I was very pleased at the quality of the people who showed up to train. There were no egos around either day, and all the guys trained hard. I felt like I had become friends with each and every one of them, and I think they feel the same way. Just in case you train too hard, there is a hot tub and sauna available behind the lodge. The one thing that really sticks out in my mind is that I truly felt like a guest, no matter where I went while I was there. The people were very nice to all of us. We couldn't have expected a better atmosphere or attitude from the local people. This was obviously a success, so we have decided to try to continue the camps every month or two.
