| Pets are an important part of any time of year. But around Halloween, unfortunately our furry friends can be in danger. ---------------------------------- Black cats and certain breeds of dogs should be watched carefully as there are people who kill, mutilate and tirture them as part of some weird sacrafice. ----------------------------------- Rottweilers are NOT devil dogs and should not be used in ANY manner of attacking or torture. Black cats are NOT meant for sacrafcial purposes and should NEVER be treated as such. --------------------------------- Most animal adoption centers or animal shelters will not sell or adopt out certain animals before or close to Halloween for these reasons. ---------------------------------------- If you own Dobermans or Rotts or have a black cat, please be more mindful of them around this time of year. |

| It is also good practice NOT to allow puppies near the door around trick or treaters if they have had previous trouble or have tendencies to bite. The costumes can be very frightening to dogs and it is their job to protect you as well as their domain. ----------------------------------- Another thing that is very harmful to your pet is chocolate. It is best not to give them any and to keep all candy up away from them. ----------------------------------- If you take your pet out trick or treating, keep them on a shorter leash and do not allow other children to get to close, just in case they try slipping the dog candy. ---------------------------- If you do go out trick or treating, keep your pets inside so that they are safe and no harm comes to them. Simple preventive measures are worth a pound of any cure. |

| When taking your children out, be sure to have reflective clothing on them and bright pumpkin or skull flashlights for the occasion. --------------------------------------- Never let them eat ANY candy, even if you know the people handing it out until it can be checked at a local emergency room or at your own home. ------------------------------------------- If you are unable to go out with your children, make sure that a responsible adult is with them during their trick or treating, or that they are with a group of friends. ----------------------------------------- Sadly enough, in today's times, you can never be too careful. |
