Roseville's Academy Performers Studio To Become Home Of The Desmond School Of Irish Dancing!

ROSEVILLE, CALIF., FRIDAY, JANUARY 25, 2002 – Starting this month, The Academy Performers will become home to the Desmond School of Irish dancing. Currently, there is only one accredited Irish dance school in the entire Sacramento Valley.

The owner of the school, Kathleen Desmond began Irish Dancing thirty years ago with the Deely School of Irish Dancing in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ms. Desmond also received Irish dance training from several teachers in Ireland and England. A three time solo champion, Ms. Desmond was also a member of a well known figure dancing team which recently placed in U.S. Nationals. She has performed throughout the entire state of California, in Las Vegas, and Hawaii.

Ms. Desmond began teaching for the Deely School in 1991. Two of her students placed in the top 15 in the U.S. National Irish Dance Championships and several of her students are open champions. Once Ms. Desmond attained her T.C.R.G., which is an official designation given by the Irish Dance Commission located in Ireland to accredited teachers, she was officially able to open her own school.

The Academy Performers Studio opened in 1999. It’s mission is to provide a fun and educational atmosphere where children can learn a variety of dance styles, build esteem and perform.
