For as long as Rosalyn can remember she felt like she was fighting for what she wanted. It became very obvious that she did not like her mother, Rae Cummings. It seemed like her mother was trying push her into directions that she didn't want to go. She wanted Roz to become a doctor and pushed hard for it. Because Rae pushed, Rosalyn ran in the other direction. She took a job as a waitress in restaurant in a nearby city. She married the first guy who looked at her with a smile because she knew that would get her out from under her mother's thumb. So she and Stephen settled into the routine of marriage, knowing that they didn't truly love each other - at least not in the way, married people should. For two years, Rosalyn thought she was happy. Then she looked at her life - she was living from paycheck to paycheck with a man who cheated on her. She needed to change her life.
Fate lead her back to the one place she had tried to run away from - medicine. Once in med school she realized that this was what she was born to do. She excelled, devoting all her time to becoming a doctor. Once done, she worked in hospitals around the States and has just landed a permanent position at General Hospital.
Now fate has brought her to the same city which her estranged mother now lives. She refuses to talk to her, knowing her mother will say "I told you so" regarding her profession and her disastrous marriage to Stephen. Instead she will concentrate on getting to know her half-sister Skye better. The two barely know one another and Roz hopes to change that.
There is a sadness evident on Roz's face. A past event weighs heavily on here - and threatens any happiness she may find.
