Lydia Karenin began her life in Port Charles as part of Stefan Cassadine's ploy to return life (and money) to the Cassadine family. She was Nikolas' arranged bride. After he dug in his heels, Nikolas reluctantly married her...but of course the marriage didn't work out. She briefly toyed with the idea of dating Lucky but then she was swept off her feet by AJ Quartermaine. The two disappeared to a tropical island and enjoyed their lives together, even having a daughter named Alana. Then tragedy struck and Lydia was 'killed' in a car accident. Or so everyone thought...Since then, she has returned to Port Charles and found to be a part of her daughter's life again. She was beginning to succeed when she contracted a rare form of cancer.
Lydia left Port Charles, heading to Europe for treatment. Now in remission, Lydia is headed home to spend whatever time she might have left in her life lavishing her daughter with all the love she has to give.
