Kaylen spent alot of her pre-teen, teenage years following her step-brother Jon Thomas around. She always thought he was in love with her but she brushed it off as being an over-protective brother. She studied acting and singing when she was younger and as she got older she did modeling and acting in plays.
When she was 18, her father died in a car crash. He didn't leave a will behind so all of his money went to her step-mother. Her step-mother had always been jealous of her close relationship with her father and her son, cut Kaylen off from any of the money left behind. To make matters worse her step-mother cut her from any of the magazine ad's she had shot with Jon. She turned to Jon for help but he couldn't get his mother to change her mind. Kaylen, angry with Jon and his mother, left town going to France for a short time to work as an Au Pair. It was there she met a guy and worked out the first scam.
Kaylen pretended that she was being abused by different boyfriends and would call Jon asking for help. He would always show up, pay off the men and beg her to come back with him. She'd refuse every time and once he left she would split the money with the 'boyfriends' The last con brought her to Port Charles. But the 'abusive boyfriend' suddenly grew a conscience and filled Jon in on what she had been doing. Now she has to face up to everything she'd been running from. The lies, the cons, even her feelings for Jon.
