Kate Howard, previously known as Connie Falconeri, was raised in Bensonhurst, New York. When she was eighteen years old she legally changed her name to Kate Howard. She chose that name because of Catherine Howard, the fifth wife of Henry VIII, figuring it provided an easily recognizable name that alludes to someone with a good background and social standing. She attended Princeton University. Kate Howard is the editor of a top fashion magazine.
She has a past with mob boss Sonny Corinthos. They dated as teenagers and planned to run away together, but on the night they were to leave she stood him up. She said that she had decided that she would rather pursue her dreams, something she could not do had she run away with Sonny.
Kate arrives in Port Charles but mysteriously has not real reason for arrival or for how long she will be staying.
