Joanessa Sterling was born to Marin and Clifford Sterling on Valentine’s Day. She was the apple of the couple eye and the doted on there daughter. When Joanessa turned seven months they found out they were having another child. Valerie Sterling was born on a scorching hot day in June. With Joanessa and Valerie so close in age the Marin and Clifford made a choice not to have anymore children for a while. Joanessa and Valerie grew up as best friends. It was nothing that they didn’t do with each other. Joanessa started to pull away from Valerie as they entered high school. It was natural that they wanted different friends and associates. But Valerie was hurt that her sister didn’t deem her cool enough to hang with.
By Joanessa senior year in high school the girls are furthest they ever been apart. Barely speaking to each other due to the fact that Joanessa was popular and Valerie was a floater. She never stayed attached to one crowd feeling like friends don’t come with a status. One day while arriving home the girls were sat down by there parents. Marin told the girls that Clifford had testicular cancer and wasn’t expected to make it. Joanessa was crushed when she heard that, Valerie took it extra hard. The girls banded together to make there father last days memorable. Joanessa graduation was bittersweet for the entire family. Clifford took it extra hard due to the fact that he wouldn’t see Valerie graduate. Since the family favorite time of year was the holiday’s they brought the holiday’s to Clifford. They had Thanksgiving in June, and Christmas in July. They family seemed to always be in the hospital with Clifford so it came as no shock when Joanessa met Dr. Laurence Pruitt. He wasn’t Clifford doctor but he spotted Joanessa and helped the family understand medicine better. When Clifford finally did die the family had a very small and personal funeral which Joanessa didn’t attend. She refused to see that shell of a man as her strong and strapping father. Laurence was there for her and she finally committed to him.
Joanessa was accepted to Minnesota State and her relationship with Laurence was fabulous. She was in school to become a teacher and it became clear it was her calling to work with children. She loved being around them and couldn’t wait for the day she became a mother. Joanessa and Laurence shared a romantic evening where he got down on one knee to propose to her. He not only declared his love for her but he gave his heart to her. She agreed to marry him and they made love. Joanessa awoke to a letter Laurence telling her he went to get breakfast but had to run to the bank. At the bank a desperate man in need of money held up the bank he sprayed the room with bullets when he entered the room he instantly killed Laurence. Eventually hostages were freed but there was one casualty Laurence. When news hit Joanessa she was heartbroken she lost the love of her life and her father in such a short span of time. Marin and Valerie were there for her but in the end they couldn’t pull her out of her depression. Joanessa searched through Laurence things at his condo with his mother to see what each of them wanted. His sister found a stack of his old love letters and other child hood belongings. They took them and left to the condo while Joanessa stayed behind. She laid in his bed curling up to him. That’s when she spotted another box that looked identical to the old box of letter his mother and sister took. She opened it and saw something so shocking that she had a panic attack. It was as if the air out of her body was sucked away.
Joanessa was angry and knew she had to confront her sister. She arrived at Valerie dorm room screaming like a wild woman. Everyone was taken back because of Joanessa didn’t look like the type to fight but she attacked Valerie. Valerie knew why she had been sleeping with Laurence since they got together. The shocking revelation killed Marin when she arrived to break the girls apart. Joanessa wanted some sort of normal life away from everyone. She wanted to start over. At first moving away was her first major option but when Marin told her to forgive her sister she took it as a sign of her mother siding with Valerie. So when the insurance money came from Laurence death she took her share of the money and left some in a bank account the other half was withdrawn. She sent it to a account in a small town called Port Charles then did something no one expected she died. Joanessa drove her car off a cliff and drove another car to Port Charles were for the last year she’s been staying. Marin and Valerie were devastated by Joanessa apparent suicide. Minnesota newscasters drew in on this story due to it’s tragic tone. She’s bought new ID’s her name still is Joanessa but Parker is her new last name. She’s known by few and works the MetroCourt. All people know about Joanessa is that she lives at Bobbie brownstone and she’s a bartender at the MetroCourt. Will someone dig under the surface to find exactly who is Joanessa?
