Dawn grew up on the mean streets of Chicago as a Goth kid. Dawn and her mother Gloria were a dynamic duo. Gloria worked at a hospital as a nurse but she had no family so they had nowhere to live. She used Dawn childish appeal to get hotel rooms and places to stay for nights, weeks, and sometimes months at a time. Dawn marveled the people because she was sweet, funny, sarcastic, and charming. But they were still homeless and sometimes they were on the street. They still survived but Dawn resented her mother for never taking care of her properly. Dawn school hood friends got her turned onto Goth which Gloria hated. After awhile they got a place to stay. Dawn never really knew her father or his side of the family because her mother forbidden her to ever question about him but she does know about a uncle who sends them money ever holiday. But she had a few tricks for her mother. She hated the fact she was poor so she acted out. Spray painting the school, getting arrested, and having unprotected sex. Gloria had almost enough until she found out that Dawn tried to kill herself by slitting her wrist..
Therapy and lots of love brought Dawn back to the funny, sarcastic child she used to be. Dawn slowly evolved into a much more mature women going to school more and her education became much more to her. She graduated from high-school and eventually went to school for being a teacher of under-privileged kids in Chicago but something drew her to the small town of Port Charles. It was the fact that her boyfriend Mason was taking his daughter there to see his mother. She ended up leaving Chicago for Port Charles and she started working for the school system in the town. Dawn always felt like she was being watched but never could prove it. But one night she was abducted three months ago. Dawn met Allyson and a strong friendship has started they are cellmates and planning a breakout at any moment.
