Anita Vanderbilt is the daughter of Mecca Vanderbilt - a wealthy heiress from India. Mecca arrived in New York and became the toast of the town with her lavish parties and wonderful demeanor. One night while hosting one of her famous parties she met Victor Cassadine a man who was supposed to be in jail. But he had fled with the help of Helena and returned to the family Island in Greece. He had arrived in New York to talk with a friend of Mikkos who was attending the party for a business deal. The sparks flew between the forbidden lovers one night of passion turned into a year of love. She threw away her life in New York to go to Greece with Victor. Meeting Helena she was smitten by the wonderful women little did she know Helena was ruthless. Victor kept her away from Helena but they shared a slight bond. Victor and Mecca shared plenty of steamy nights but when the authorities got word that Victor was in Greece the stormed the Island he left never to be seen by Mecca's eyes.
Returning to her family was very hard for the prideful women but she did and married Owen Vanderbilt. He was a true gentleman and she like that but never could fall in love with that man after her and Victor's steamy affair. A month after the wedding Mecca found herself wanting out to search the world for Victor - he was her only goal. Just as she was about to leave she found out she was carrying a child. Knowing that it wasn't Owen she made a promise to him that if he pretended to be this child father she would stay. Every child deserved a loving family and she would provide that for this baby.

She was always mommy angel and nobody loved harder than Mecca because Anita was her last link to the Cassadines. Anita quickly grew into a women over night she was smart, sassy, and very sexy. But in New York she quickly took after her mother and went after the bad boys she and Vincent Caine started a lustful affair after meeting in a party. When was carried off to jail she was distraught with grief for her lover. Owen was always a doting father to Anita but when he told her that he wasn't her father it crushed her spirit. Demanding the truth from her mother Anita was told about the mystical Cassadines they were so mysterious and fascinating. She knew she had to meet all of them so she packed up her things and headed out to Port Charles. In Port Charles she enrolled in PCU and started her education to become a nurse. There she shined as a wonderful nurses but when she got word of her mother illness she flew to New York. Her mother begged her to become a doctor at her death bed Anita made a promise and she has stuck too it. She's currently in school to become a doctor. Also she's waiting for the perfect opportunity to tell the Cassadines she family. Will Anita ever get the courage to tell them or will Victor force her to come out of hiding?
