Allison Cameron, an immunologist, was a member of Dr. Gregory House's team of handpicked specialists at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital's Department of Diagnostic Medicine. Cameron once accused House of hiring her only because of her physical attractiveness. House countered that she was hired because she didn't allow other people to give her things and he respected the fact that she advanced her medical career despite being 'pretty.' Cameron is known for her honesty, sincerity, idealism and strong ethical center. She is an atheist but unlike House, she expresses a feeling of respect for people with religious beliefs. Cameron objects to House's reliance on deceiving their patients and has gone head-to-head with him several times on the issue. She has also been reluctant to deliver bad news to patients or their families. Nonetheless, she is effective at gaining patients' trust and their consent to diagnostic procedures, in contrast to House's strong-arm methods.
After three years with House, she resigned and then became the Department Head of the ER. She seemed to have grown tired of House's childish antics, although they still maintained a more playful, friendly banter; House rarely annoys her in her own department. Her relationship with Chase had also developed further; and they had moved in together. Cameron has also been used by the new fellows as a sounding board, often asking her how to deal with the situations House has put them in. After moving forward, away from House's department, Cameron proved she was not the naive immunologist everyone had thought. During that change, Cameron dyed her hair blond. House found her in the ER when he finally knows of the entire truth behind Chase and Cameron and where they worked, telling her that she was an 'idiot'. When she asked if it was either the hair or where she was working, he said both, stating that her hair made her look like a hooker and that he liked it. Cameron moved up to Dean Of Medicine and Hospital Administrator in the hospital after Cuddy decides to spend more time being a mother, but soon quits, stating that she can never say no to House after studying under him for three years.
Prior to working at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, Cameron was a medical intern at the Mayo Clinic, and was one of the top students in her class in medical school. She hails from the Midwestern United States and has a sibling, an unnamed older brother. Despite her kind and earnest nature, Cameron has undergone traumatic experiences in her life. Her awkwardness with death was explained when it was revealed that she had once fallen in love and married a dying man when she was 21. The marriage lasted only six months ending with her husband's death due to thyroid cancer that had metastasized to his brain.
After running PPTS's ER for awhile it was like even changing venues (Diagnostics to ER) couldn't get her away from House, and all that being around her meant, so Allison transferred out of PPTH, heading straight to Port Charles for a fresh start, and to hopefully leave her old life behind.
