At 26, Amaya has moved to Port Charles after being offered the position of biochemist (Lab Test, Anesthetics, Poison Control Etc, Creation of New Treatments etc.) at General Hospital. Although she left behind a brother named Michael in Alabama, she is glad to be here after she divorced the man who controlled her former position in an Alabama hospital.
Amaya soon found herself under the thumb of Cesar Faison who used her enoromous med school debt to blackmail her. She was helpless during the virus and felt guilt because she knew information that could help the police find Faison. After the virus was over, she found herself confronted by Daniel Samsonov, who swiftly killed her in order to wipe any connections to his father in Port Charles.
