Stavros is the crowned prince of the Cassadine family. This title led to him being spoiled rotten by his parents, particularly his mother. He grew up believing that he had a right to anything he wanted. He found himself a bride in Laura Spencer and believed that he had conceived an heir with her. Little did he know that she was carrying on an affair with his brother, Stefan and that Nikolas was in reality his son. However - Stavros does have a son out there. Roman Cassadine was conceived just before he married to Laura, but Stavros abandoned his mother in order to enter.
Stavros' first brush with death came at the hands of Luke Spencer. Not willing to let her son die, Helena kept him squirreled away until she could figure out how to make him all better. He emerged a few years ago and wreaked havoc on Port Charles, kidnapping and faking Chloe Morgan's death, and nearly killing the Spencer family. In the end, he disappeared, and was presumed dead. But instead he has watched the town - waiting for the right moment to return!
