Mark Sloan
was born & raised in New York City. He befriended
Derek Shepherd at a young age and became
like a second son to the Shepherd family. Their friendship lasted
through the years and he was Derek's best man at his wedding to
Addison Montgomery. He attended medical
school and completed his residency in plastic surgery and quickly became
one of the best in his field. As Derek & Addison's marriage became
strained, Mark & Addison grew closer and
eventually slept together, only for Derek to catch them in the act.
Derek moved to Seattle for a fresh start; Addison followed, and shortly
after, Mark did as well. Although Mark's love for Addison was apparent,
he deeply regretted all the hurt he caused Derek; the brother he never
had. After Addison's death, the two began a long and rocky road to
reconciliation.
Mark is an overly confident, arrogant man. He has MAJOR commitment
issues - his friendship with Derek is his single longest relationship.
In fact, life in Seattle was so empty without Derek that he decided to
pack up and move to Port Charles as
well. In Mark's eyes, General Hospital is damn lucky to have his
precious hands at their service and he is ready to work wonders on the
residents of PC.
