Years ago, Edward Quartermaine and Lila fell in love, but Lila was engaged to another man. Edward fought for her hand, but during the fight, Edward was almost killed, but Lila struck her fiancé dead, and Edward helped her cover up the crime.But Lila was pregnant with the man's child, and Edward convinced her to give the baby up for adoption. The child grew up as Jesse Donovan, who never knew of his mother. Jesse eventually married and had baby Jeremy and later Andrew, but Jesse and wife died in a car accident when Jeremy was 12.
Edward did some digging and found Jeremy and his brother living in an orphanage in Canada, and unknown to Lila, provided for the boys, finding them a good home near Port Charles, never telling anyone in fear of Lila's secret being uncovered.
But with the Quartermaines in such disarray these days, Edward has decided it's time to bring in his trump card, and brings Lila's grandsons home to the Quartermaines.
