His mentor and friend of his father's, Oliver, took Gustavo under his wing and showed him the ropes of how to run a business with an iron fist. The first time that Gustavo killed someone, Oliver had been right there with him, almost showing him how to pull the trigger. Over time, the many lives that he took or set up to be taken started to become normal to him and his children become his sole focus along with becoming the most powerful man in organized crime. His mind began to slip away slowly, the money, power, and murder motivating him just to become more powerful and wealthy. Gustavo had conquered many places in the country and now he's setting his sights on Port Charles, the town is never going to be the same.
