Gianni grew up loving his father's business. Like his sister, being raised in the mob lifestyle all his life, he would flaunt the fact that he could have anyone eliminated if he didn't like them because of who his father was. Since he was young,both his grandfather and his father, have been grooming him to take over the family business and as a teen he welcomed the chance to have power and money with open arms. That however, changed when he was 21.
About a year
after his sister lost her fiancée, Gianni met a woman named Angie who
changed his life. They fell in love deeply and Gianni wanted to spend
the rest of his life with her. The woman had even managed to convince
Gianni to lead a normal, legal life, offering him the chance to leave
the country with her
so they could start a new life in
Europe.
Not wanting to leave his sister, Gianni declined her offer but Gabriella
convinced him to leave. When Gianni alerted his father to the fact that
he was leaving to be with Angie, his father broke out in a rage, telling
him that he could not leave because he was next in line to
inherit the Giovanni organization. Not listening to his father, Gianni
walked out and looked forward to his life with Angie in
Europe.
That same night of their argument, Angie's house went up in flames
mysteriously. Gianni rescued her out of the burning house but was unable
to revive her and she died from smoke inhalation. Knowing that his
father was behind what happened to the woman he loved, Gianni hated his
father and wanted nothing else to do with him. However, he stayed around
to be with his sister, feeling as though she was the only person that he
could love who his father wouldn't hurt.
