Relationships: Single, divorced from Sami Brady
EJ is the child of Stefano DiMera and Susan Banks. He grew up with his father whom he became very close to and has fond memories of his childhood despite his father's evil intentions towards many in Salem. EJ came to Salem on his father's orders and for awhile no one knew of his connection to Stefano. He befriended Sami Brady - which turned out to be a part of his father's plan. He blackmailed Sami into sex in hopes of getting her pregnant in a bid to save his father's life. Sami became pregnant with twins and in the end it was revealed that he was the father of her son, whom was named Johnny.
EJ and Sami married in part to end the DiMera-Brady feud. By now, EJ thought he was in love with Sami and hoped that his feelings would be returned. He vowed to be a better person around her and for awhile seemed to hold true to that until it was revealed that he lied about a visa problem to keep himself married to Sami. By now, Sami was sure that she loved Lucas so EJ was left out into the cold. He consented to the divorce but made it clear that he would be staying in his son's life and even alluded to paying off judges to hold onto custody of Johnny.
EJ's skills as a lawyer are what brings him to Port Charles. A former 'client' of Zoey's, she calls him on behalf of Todd Manning. The fact that he is going through a similar situation with Johnny makes him take on Todd's custody case against Tea. Whether or not he decides to relocate to Port Charles depends on what happens when he spends time here.
