Charles Bishop's family was poor and from the ghettos of Chicago. His neighborhood was set in a gang area and there were constant drive by shootings, murders, and violence. At the age of seven, Charles had already held his first gun. His parents were both addicted to cocaine but had another child, Charles' little brother, Jaden who he grew to care about a lot. At the age of eleven, Charles had begun hanging with a bad crowd and joined a gang in Chicago, wanting a better family than the one he had with his drug addicted parents.
Charles stayed a part of the gang for three years and at the age of fourteen, he had gotten in good with the higher ups of his crew. One night, they gave Charles a job...stealing a car. Of course, being fourteen years old Charles was scared. They gave him some liquor to boost his courage and it did, Charles stole the car and got into a car chase with the police. He was caught and arrested and since he was a minor, Charles was taken away from his family and sent to a group detention facility where he was to be rehabilitated. When Charles was sixteen and Jaden was nine, their parents died as a result of a drive by shooting. His little brother, Jaden was sent to live with their cousin in California and since he had no one to take him in, Charles was sent to an orphanage...where he met Kyan Thomas.
Kyan was fifteen and had grown up in the orphanage himself, having been given up for adoption. He and Charles became close, best friends even and since neither one of them had any family they spent a lot of time together and confided in each other. After a year of friendship, the two found out things about one another they never really told to anyone else and shared something special.
Two years later, when Kyan was seventeen and Charles was eighteen, Charles revisited his old ways and decided they should rob a liquor store for fun. Kyan said he could get them guns but didn't tell Charles that the guns were actually loaded. During the robbery, Charles accidentally shot the Korean store owner and killed him.
The
boys separated and ran; Charles was apprehended but never gave up Kyan.
He was put in jail for five years and was let on parole for "good
behavior" recently at the age of 24. The whole time that he was
"pretending" to be nice in prison, he'd been planning on getting revenge
on the person who got him locked up...Kyan Thomas. Now that he's in
Port Charles, it has been revealed that
Lee Johnson is his accomplice and lover in his plot against his former
best friend. Secretly, they're working together to get back at Kyan
because he also ruined Lee's life...the man that Charles accidentally
killed just happened to be Lee's father!
