Brad was raised by his mother in St Louis, Missouri. His father owned a meat marketing industry that ran all over Nevada. He left Brad and his mother in Missouri while he ran his "business" in Nevada. Brad's father came to visit him when he could. Sometimes he would send some of his employees over to Missouri to check on Brad, or so he thought. When the employees came by they never even asked him how he was. They came to teach him things. One taught him to be aware of things and many combat moves, one taught him the leadership skills that his father felt important for him to learn, another taught him how to survive out in the wilderness by taking him out to the woods, and most importantly his father taught him how to use a variety of guns. They did this for over 13 years starting when he was five. At the time Brad thought that they were just trying to teach him how to defend himself and that every kid was learning this but now Brad knows why his father did this. When Brad turned 18 that's when all of the teaching stopped and reality kicked in. His father had died of natural causes and he left him his business. Brad was very excited about taking over what he thought was a legitimate meat market. At the time he was getting ready to marry his high school sweetheart and they both had decided to stay down in Nevada so that he could run the business.
Then the day that changed his entire life happened. Brad was informed of why he had to live so far away from his father, why he had been taught so many things from complete strangers, and why he had to be the one to run the business. He was told that the meat market industry was only a front for the true business that his father ran. His father was a mob boss who sold drugs all over Nevada. He had been preparing Brad to take over that business all along. Brad was devastated when he heard this. However that was not the only bad news he would receive that day. He found his girlfriend at home dead. She had been shot by a rival family trying to send him a warning. They also tracked down his mother and killed her too. Furious he accepted the position as mob boss and began a mob war against the rival family and ended up winning it by killing their boss. As soon as he finished the mob war he resigned. He wanted to live a normal life and for two years he did. However he found his life uneventful and pointless. He did not have a job, not that he needed one he inherited a fortune from his father and he received a ton of money for selling his rights of the "meat market" away. He decided not to put all of his fathers training into waste so he became a contract killer for men all over the country. He did this for four years. He admired the power of the men he worked for. He began to question why he ever quit the mob boss position. He was very good at what he did but he was growing tired of the traveling. He grew to like his work but he wanted something more. He wanted to be more involved in the mob but not as a contract killer who could work for a organization, do the job they wanted him to do then turn around and work for the enemy organization. He wanted to stay loyal to one organization and he figured Port Charles was the best place to find one. He also hoped to gain something he hadn't had for six years. A personal life.
