Old Skool or New Skool?

by Xavion

Couples are a big reason that we watch soaps, they draw us in like moths
to a flame. The formula is simple, boy meets girl, girl meets boy, boy likes girl, girl likes boy. We get hooked on their tense moments of push and pull and dream about experiencing the kind of joy this couple has in your own life. What happens when a wrench is thrown into your coupling but oddly, you end up liking the new coupling as much as the old one? Let's take a look at these couples and see if you can choose your favorite.

(Ol Skool) "L&L2" vs. (New Skool) "Liason"-Lucky and Elizabeth started a
young and pure love when Lucky helped Elizabeth recover from her rape.
Through boxcars and paintings, their love became teenage love at its best. Lucky "died" and Elizabeth couldn't mend the hole in her heart, that was until Jason Morgan stepped into the picture. Jason and Elizabeth created a friendship that turned into love which was never fulfilled by the two due to complications with Jason's life. Lucky and Elizabeth reunited and are now engaged. However, after years of ignoring their connection to each other "Liason" has been thrown together again. Now that they've finally consummated their relationship and Jason wants out of the mob life, will "Liason' get the chance they've always been waiting for? Or will "L&L2's teenage love prevail once again?

(Ol Skool) "JaSam" vs. (New Skool) "LuSam"-Jason and Sam were two apples from the same tree. Both felt they were without a family and ended up sleeping together. Jason felt as though he wanted to save Sam and wanted to be the father of her daughter, instead of Jax, the man she had slept with as well. He found a kindred spirit in Sam in the fact that she accepted his life and "JaSam" was born. Though, when Jason needed risky surgery to remove a brain tumor, Sam went against his wishes and asked for the procedure. Jason's old memories were restored and resulted in him growing distant from Sam. Now that Jason has asked Lucky to watch Sam for him, she's been spending more time with the cop. Sharing intimate conversations, Sam and Lucky have grown to have an unexpected dependency on each other. When Jason's infidelity comes out, will "LuSam" lean on each other for comfort? Or will "JaSam" maintain their family?

(Ol Skool) "NIa" vs. (New Skool) "GiVen"-A prince. A girl from the streets. What do you get when you mix the two? You get "NIa". A blend of witty banter and genuine love between two different people, "NIa" was the symbol of love that really showed opposites attract. Though, Nikolas started to mimic his father and Gia found her dreams of wanting to become a lawyer more prevalent over her relationship and "NIa" ended. A few years later, a blind date spawned "GiVen", when Steven Lars Webber fell in love with Gia. Gia was taken with Steven and his normal lifestyle and the two conceived a son, Noah. Noah died when Gia was shot by Conner Bishop and "GiVen" is just now starting to repair their relationship. But with Nikolas wanting his old flame back, will "NIa' get a second chance? Or will "GiVen" step over this obstacle too and stay together?

(Ol Skool) "NEm" vs. (New Skool) "EmCon"-After Gia, Nikolas was involved
with Emily Quartermaine in a plot to pretend to love her to push away her current love, Zander Smith. The plan worked well, so well in fact that Nikolas and Emily truly fell in love and "NEm" was born. Their relationship wasn't without troubles, from cancer to Helena Cassadine, "NEm" overcame test after test and triumphed each time. Until, Nikolas met his match in Conner Bishop, an ex-army vet who looks just like him.  Conner took Nikolas' place when Helena kidnapped her nephew and lived the life of the prince. Emily ended up falling in love with Conner Bishop the man, not the faker pretending to be Nikolas, and "EmCom" was created. She is divorcing Nikolas to be with him. Conner and Emily are more in love than ever but can't reveal their love to the world, currently they are meeting in secret. Is "EmCon" going to be the end game? Or is "NEm" going to rise from the ashes like the phoenix?

(Ol Skool) "StRobE" vs. (New Skool) "Scrubs"-Robin and Stone, the original good girl and bad boy. Stone Cates worked for Sonny in his illegal crime organization and Robin was the quiet, innocent teenage girl with no parents. The two connected on their matching feelings on being an outsider and eventually fell in love. Stone used a bad heroine needle and contracted HIV, giving it to Robin. Their love stayed strong up until Stone died in Robin's arms in the famous "Robin, I can see you" scene. Stone's death left Robin feeling as though love can never happen without bad ramifications. Enter Patrick Drake Robin's colleague and sparring partner. The two don't get along because of Patrick's womanizing ways though Robin starts to see a different side of him when he takes in a little boy named Zack. "Scrubs" have found some like within their dislike and is on the road to happiness with Robin thinking about love with no consequences for the first time. But with Donovan Forrester, Stone's manmade look alike, can "StRobE2" be a future redux of "StRobE"?

(Ol Skool) "BrOnny" vs. (New Skool) "Brustus"-Brenda and Sonny. It was passionate. Alluring. Abusive. Loving. And we loved every minute of it. From the moment beauty queen, Brenda Barrett got entangled with Sonny
Corinthos after they both connected over her best friend Robin when Stone died, "BrOnny" was a must see. "BrOnny" was intense and heated with both parties hurting each other. In the end, Brenda "died" and "BrOnny" died as well. When Brenda returned four years later, she would find herself involved with Justus Ward after surviving a plane crash with him. "BrUstus" brings out Brenda's innocence that we all fell in love with and shows Justus' skills as a leading man. With "BrUstus on the brink of disaster and "CarSon" going through family problems, will "Bronny" re-connect? Or will "BrUstus" get married and live happily ever after?

(Ol Skool) "Jaxis" vs. (New Skool) "CoJax"-Marriage to help a friend creates two life long friends in the process. Jasper Jacks married Alexis Davis to help their mutual friend, Chloe Morgan, present a more realistic marriage of her own to her aunt; in order to gain her trust fund. "JaXis" became best friends, never taken their relationship to the next level, though their chemistry was there to go in that direction. Jax moved onto betting and placed a million dollar bet with Courtney Matthews that he could get her into bed. Courtney accepted and "CoJax" was born. Jax found himself falling in love with Courtney and called off the bet, wanting to pursue something real with her. With Alexis needing her best friend’s help when she finds out about her husband's infidelity, will "JaXis" finally take it there? "Or is "CoJax" looking to make Courtney the first woman to make it to the alter with Jax?
