To Protect and Serve...and Maintain a Life of Their Own?!

by Xavion

(Editor's Note: Thank you for once again contributing a great article! But one can't help but wonder...where is the poor often overlooked police commissioner? :P)

The PCPDs. Their mission to make people's lives better and the streets safe but at the same time...they have lives too!

With mob figures like Sonny Corinthos, Carlos Vargos, Luis and Lorenzo Alcazar, the Zaccharas, and Gusatvo Giovanni, it's good that there are some people in Port Charles to help even out the ratio of good guys to bad guys. These people are the fine officers of the PCPD, who put their lives not only professionally but physically as well, on the line to protect the innocents of the city from the ever growing crime elements. However, while they are trying to make sure that everyone else's life is in order, their own personal lives could use some organizing and analyzing as well. Let's take a look at what's been going on and what's coming up for our local badge wielding, gun toting officers of the law!

Cooper Barrett-A war veteran turned police officer, there is more than meets to eye to this good looking cadet. Having returned from Iraq, Coop came to Port Charles to live a life not filled with violence and get to know his fashionista sister, Brenda. Although, Brenda doesn't know that her brother is in town, Coop hopes that they will able to get to know each other better and be close siblings seeing as how he never knew his parents. There hasn't been much that he's done on the police force since he is still in the academy but an opportunity has come up for Coop to prove his worth. However, the assignment he's been given could cost him his life. Recommended by Mac, Coop has been chosen to infiltrate the Giovanni organization as his new hitman and he has taken the job with hopes that he'll be able to help the PCPD take out the madman. With a potential romantic entanglement with Christine Collins on the horizon, will Coop be able to do what needs to be done to get the job done? Or will the pressure of working for a killer revert him back to the person he was in Iraq?

Colin Scorpio-The son of Robert Scorpio and Anna Devane, international superspies with nine lives, becoming a police officer doesn't seem too far off for this young man. At first believing Robert to have been his enemy because of Faison's brainwashing, Colin has managed to turn his life around, ace the police academy, and has become the newest member of the PCPD. After shooting Robert at his cousin's wedding, Colin seems to want to make up for the bad things he's done by helping clean up Port Charles' streets which can definitely use some street sweeping at this point in time. Aside from this, he has managed to maintain a friendship with Jenna Drake, the sister of Patrick Drake. Though they both have opposite personalities, Colin and Jenna have leaned on each other through hard times and recently admitted to one another that they both harbor feelings other than friendship for the other person. However, a wrench has been thrown in Colin's life in the form of his "brother", Daniel Samsonav, who has threatened to hurt Jenna if Colin does not relinquish her from his life. Will Colin be able to protect the woman he cares for or will he give in to Daniel's request and lose the only person he's ever connected with other than Faison? We shall see...

Billie Prescott-Like many of the people in Port Charles, Billie was a victim of Gustavo Giovanni's heartless crimes, slaughtering her family on her seventeenth birthday. This life changing event made Billie follow in her father's footsteps and become an FBI agent so that she would be able to find Gustavo herself to pay him back for killing all of her loved ones. After having tracked Gustavo for years, she's realized that the way to get to him is through his children and isn't above using that to her advantage...which is why she's started to cozy up to Gianni Giovanni. Billie hopes to get close to Gianni so that the PCPD can have some solid incriminating evidence on Gustavo but she doesn't want to stop there, for her, revenge isn't going to be served on a luke warm plate...she wants to kill the man herself! However, the more time she spends with the son of the man who killed her family, the more she's beginning to realize that she hasn't lived her life at all and that she can truly be happy once again. Billie continues to fight her attraction to the "enemy" but will she be able to keep things strictly professional with Gianni and complete the task at hand? And what will happen when Gianni finds out that she's been lying to him and plotting to kill his father? This FBI agent has some difficult choices coming up...

Lucky Spencer-Lucky Spencer, one of the best cops on the force, has been so involved with his work and trying to protect the citizens of Port Charles that his family life is suffering dealry for it. Not seeing his fiancee, Elizabeth Webber, has created a rift between the once perfect couple and has Lucky questioning whether or not his marriage can survive. With the re-found connection between Elizabeth and Jason, Lucky is feeling more than just the strain on their relationship due to their lack of quality time but also because he is weary as to just how and why the woman he is going to marry has become close to the man she once loved. However, a promise to Jason to watch over Sam has given Lucky a listening and advice giving ear in the woman he's been asked to protect and Sam has also found Lucky to be a welcomed distraction from the Quartermaine craziness while she's staying with them. Now that Lucky's been assigned to investigate the bombing of the MetroCourt, he'll probably be seeing even less of Elizabeth which could put their pending nuptials in even more jeopardy, seeing as how she's slept with Jason Morgan and has admitted to wanting to be with him. Is Lucky and Elizabeth's teenage love enough to overcome an emotional and physical affair? Or will Lucky be unlucky and find comfort in someone else's arms?

Antonio Vega-Not only has Antonio from Llanview started a new job as one of the PCPD's finest but he's also trying to start over with his wife, Jessica Buchanan. After sleeping with Jessica's aunt, Tia Lord-Forrester in Llanview, Antonio thought his marriage was going to be over. However, it seems as though the love Jessica has for him has enabled her to give him another chance and stalled their divorce. Things may look good for Antonio now but with the arrival of Tess and her hatred for him could complicate matters for the once happily married couple. If it wasn't enough to have a part of the woman you love hate your guts, what makes matters worse is that Antonio doesn't know about the doubts Jessica has about staying married to him and helping raise Jaime. Watching her mother go through DID and what she went through, Jessica is trying to keep Antonio close but doesn't want to hurt him and is keeping him at arms length for his own good. Coupled with the fact that she has now established a bond with Roman Cassadine and finds herself able to open up to him more than her own husband, it doesn't look like smooth sailing for officer Vega who has been assigned to investigate the disappearance of Nathaniel John Ross. Can Antonio convince Jessica that she can trust him to protect her from Tess? Or will Jessica decide that letting Antonio go is better in the long run to prevent him and Jaime the pain of dealing with her alter? And let's not forget about troublemaker, Tess!

Trish Brooks-Like Antonio, Trish comes from a different police department in a different city but has carried the same dark secret with her. Arriving in town as Lucky's new partner and having a one night stand with Wyatt Dawson, Trish has come to Port Charles harboring a secret that she doesn't want anyone to find out. Taking the law into her own hands in Pine Valley by killing a man, Trish wants to work ten times as hard to clean up the streets for taking a life and breaking the oath she took as a police officer but that journey isn't going to be without bumps. Having literally bumped into her estranged sister, Honor, Trish has been thrown into the middle of a mob war. Knowing what she does for a living and that Honor's up to her knees in the mob, Trish is experiencing conflicting emotions regarding her sister. Does she love her? Does she hate her? Well, it's obvious that she doesn't hate her because they were able to work together to find a clue on the bombing at the MetroCourt. Honor's re-emerges has Trish questioning many things about their relationship and also herself. When she is faced with a tough decision regarding her sister's fate, what will Trish do? And will her secret ever be found out or will Trish finally snap because of the guilt she feels for what she's done?

Talon Spencer-Brother of his ex-partner, Talon's life has turned from completely down in the dumps to the brighter side of the rainbow. Feeling overwhelmed by the increasing mob element, Talon left the PCPD and joined the WSB, wanting to fight crime from a different position. While still pining over Sage, he made a friend in Mia Nelson and has also been trying to establish a stronger relationship with his siblings. Recently, Talon's persistence and Sage's recent brush with death has brought the two back together and both have realized that even though they've had some hard times in the past, they can make things work now in the present and prepare for the future. Though, his strong friendship with Mia who is not a fan of his girlfriend, could prove problematic for the threesome in the future as Mia's jealousy of Sage continues to grow. And will Talon have what it takes to help get rid of the growing mob threat or will Sage be attending a funeral instead of a wedding if Talon becomes a causality of the mob war to end all mob wars?
