Bad Boys

by Mandy

Port Charles is home to many. Of course, there are certain groups that seem more drawn to the city and bad boys are one of them! When I say "Bad Boy" one conjures up a certain image - usually a handsome man who possesses an edge and is swooned over by females. Well, all the men in this category fit the bill. But they also prove that within the Bad Boy group, there are different types.

The Family Man - Sonny Corinthos is an example of a bad boy who has proven to be adept at doing what is necessary to stay on top of the underworld while at the same time maintaining a loving family. Now, he is by no means father of the year as Michael has managed to sneak off twice without him knowing but he does love his family more than his own life. If you want to see how badass he can be - just try and mess with his family. Sonny Corinthos is protective of his wife, Carly, and his children Cleo, Michael and Morgan. This need to protect also spills over to his friends. All in all, don't mess with those around Sonny Corinthos or it will be the last thing you do!

The Smooth Operator - Lorenzo Alcazar is a charmer. A well educated and well spoken man, many people underestimate this man's lethal abilities. It is almost as if he has created a front - meet Lorenzo Alcazar, the gentleman. Cross him and you'll never see him coming. He also sports something few bad boys seem to possess - a big heart. Since his brother's supposed death, Lorenzo has cared for his niece Sage. He also has recently discovered that he has a son. No doubt, he will quickly wipe out anyone who hurts them. With his caring nature, it is easy to be fooled by Lorenzo...which may be how he wants it.

The Chessmaster - No, this title does not refer to Luis Alcazar's favorite game...it refers to the fact that he likes to play games. Although he may not have the calm cool demeanor of his younger brother, Lorenzo, Luis is still a dangerous man. He often feels little or no remorse for his actions - the perfect trait for a bad boy. He takes what he wants and refuses to apologize. He also does not forgive those who have done him wrong. So, one would imagine he is very very "upset" with Alexis Davis, the woman who sent him flying off a balcony, nearly ending his life. Luis' one downfall - he lets his emotions over cloud his judgment. His relationship with Brenda lead to him becoming reckless and getting himself hurt. Now Allyson Meyers has caught his eye leading one to wonder if he can handle a relationship and maintain his badass side as well.

The Con Man - Caleb Turner represents your typical Southern gentleman with a side of jackass thrown in. He says what is on his mind and he tends to find ways to get under other people's skin. He also has a perchance for talking his way into other people's money. Why? Perhaps this is the only way a man like Caleb feels he can survive. Coming from a single parent home and often left to entertain himself, Caleb has become adept at pretending to be someone he is not. And this is the only talent he feels he has. Why not use it to make himself a few dollars? Of course, a con artist's work is never done. He tends to spend money as fast as he can pull it in. Let's hope he hits the mother load before the police catch up to him.

The Black Sheep - Perhaps it's best to refer to AJ Quartermaine as Junior in this instance. Although AJ has proven that he isn't exactly a candidate for sainthood, he is a puppy compared to Junior. For anyone wondering who the heck I am talking out, Junior is an alternate personality of AJ. After years of abuse and losing both to his family and others, AJ finally snapped, literally. His mind created "Junior", a man who will take anything and everything he feels he (and AJ) deserve. Case in point: Junior's first action in Port Charles was to kidnap AJ's biological son, Michael. The problem with a man like Junior is that he is unstable...which makes him a very dangerous man to be around.

The Man with Something to Prove - Carlos Vargos is a newcomer to Port Charles - another bad boy attracted by all the city has to offer. He is a also a man looking to show everyone he is the the best there is. Hailing from Mexico, the son of an African American and a Mexican, he often felt like he didn't fit him. He turned that around on everyone b manipulating, and killing his way to the top of the Mexican underworld. Now he is ready to take on the rest of the continent. He is a man who takes no for an answer, and he is supported by his equally manipulative and deadly wife, Marisol. He is definitely looking to show up the rest of Port Charles. Whether or not he is successful or not depends on the other bad boys' ability to share!

The Bad Seed - Javier Vargos  has earned the title bad boy without even trying.  Because he is the son of mobsters Carlos and Marisol Vargos everyone assumes that he is just as ruthless and nasty as they are.  Well...that's not exactly true.  Javier wants to distance himself from the lifestyle his parents have created.  He doesn't want to fall into that rut.  However, sometimes you just can't hide from fate.  He was with his father when a gunfight broke out.  Javier was forced to fire his weapon, killing a man and sealing his bad boy image.

So can all this different varieties of Bad Boy coexist in Port Charles? Well, only time will tell!
