Lesson Plan Report
INTRODUCTION
The
lesson was on the impact of industrialisation and water availability and
its effects on the economy. With the help of the teacher, the students
were able write interesting articles on industrialisation and water availability
and its effects on the economy. PowerPoint slides were used to present
the outlines of the articles.
SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES
The
students were overwhelmed with their exposure to this new method of instruction.
Their contributions to the lesson was therefore immense. They enjoyed using
search engines like altravista, yahoo and google to browse for relevant
information and materials from the Internet. Students participation in
this lesson was higher than the normal class. The students were ecstatic
to see their slides in PowerPoint presented to the class for the first
time. The students are now very serious with their computer lessons. On
the other hand, we faced problems with connectivity when students were
searching for information on the net. This affected the time allocated
for the lesson.
CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION AND
LOGISTICS
The
classroom was organised in such a way that I had access to all the students
while they were working. Some students were unable to finish their work
within the alloted. This could be attributed to the fact that, for some
of them it was their first time.
SUGGESTED CHANGES
I
will prepare the students adequately before taking them to the computer
room if I have to teach this lesson again.Tutors who want to teach this
lesson should solicit for assistance in order to meet the demands of the
large size of the class.
FEEDBACK
The
students' response to the lesson was so good that the school has promised
searching for funding to help teachers formally integrate technology into
their lessons .
ASSESSMENT
The
students were assessed for good and orderly presentation, content of the
essay, grammar and spelling. On the whole, the lesson was successful. Students
realised the importance of technology in their studies. good writing skills
and vocabulary. They also discovered that the internet was an indispensable
source of reference for their academic work. A few students were able to
finish in time while extra time was given to those who did not finish to
do so.
