Lesson Plan Report

INTRODUCTION

The lesson was on water-borne diseases and their effects on the economy. With the help of the teacher, the students were able to come out with articles on water-borne diseases and their effects on the economy. The outlines of the articles were presented in a PowerPoint slide show.

SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES

The students made an immense contribution. They enjoyed using search engines like yahoo, google to search for information and materials from the Internet. The students were very active during this lesson as compared to normal class. Again, students were excited to see their outlines presented on PowerPoint for the first time. This has gingered the students to be very serious with their computer lessons. On the other hand, we faced problems with connectivity when students were searching for information on the net. This affected the time allocated for the lesson.

CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION AND LOGISTICS

The classroom was organised in such a way that I had access to all the students while they were working. Some students were not able to complete their work within the stipulated time because it was the first time for some of them.I did the supervision all alone and it was very tedious dealing with such a large class.

SUGGESTED CHANGES

If I had to teach the lesson again, I would prepare the students adequately before bringing them to the lab so that prcious time wouldn't be lost during the lessons in the computer lab.I suggest to teachers who want to try this lesson to consult other colleagues to assist them in order to meet the class size.

FEEDBACK

The students responded well to the lesson. The school's administration was very pleased and is now working towards helping other teachers to integrate technology into their lessons.

ASSESSMENT

The students were assessed for good and orderly presentation, content of the essay, grammar and spelling. The lesson was successful in that students saw the need to increase their vocabulary, presentation. and Grammar. The students felt very relieved. They realized that a way has been paved for them in connection with their assignments. They were able to cover much within 90 minutes even though the lesson was interrupted. A few were able to finish in time; Extra time was given to those who did not finish to finish off.
