INTRODUCTION

The lesson was aimed at creating public awareness on howdangerous the AIDS disease is. It also aimed at integrating technology into the teaching of the lesson.

SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES

Some of the computers could not be linked to the Internet thereby affecting the time with which students were to work.The time was not enough for the lesson.Those who were able to go on the net did not want to give other friends the chance of also using the computers.Some groups did not finish with their public awareness campaigns due to the time

CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION AND LOGISTICS

Discussion of topic amongst students.Teacher led discussion on topicDividing students into groups of sixAsking each group to choose a group of people at risk for AIDS and researching for information on them.Guidelines given to students to help them with their research on the InternetStudents were taught how to save information on their diskettes.Teacher explained to students how to create the awareness campaign.Group leaders were taught how to use the printers.Students took active part in the discussion.Students were able to search the Internet for information.Each group shared ideas on information got from the Internet.Some groups were able to finish with their campaigns.On the whole the lesson was successful and interesting.

SUGGESTED CHANGES

If a lesson like this is to be taught, the briefing and discussion of the topic shouldbe done on a different day whiles the research, creation of the public awareness and the presentation are done on another day,Teachers should encourage students to use the Internet to search for informationmore often to make them independent. A lot of technology-integrated lessons should be carried out more often to make teaching and learning more interesting.

FEEDBACK

Students enjoyed lesson.Students suggested frequent use of the Internet as a tool for learningStudents suggested that a similar lesson be treated on ’ indiscipline in Ghana.’Other teachers expressed their desire in joining the E-learning programme

ASSESSMENT

Students were asked questions on the topic.Teacher looked at the phrases that they typed into the search column and awarded marks.Marks were awarded for the different search engines used by the students.Students were also assessed on the campaigns they presented.They were also assessed on the reasons assigned for using a particular approach.They were also assessed on the correct use of grammar, spellings andpunctuations.Ability to type out work beautifully was also assessed.
