Introduction
The use of polythene has become very popular in Ghana, though it seems to be having adverse effect on the country. Everyday the streets are littered with millions of polythene and gutters are choked with it. This is taking a toll on the country’s economy. The sight of polythene repulses tourists. It also destroys the fertility of the soil. The country is losing revenue due to polythene waste. Subject and Grade level: English Levels 1, 2 and 3. Lesson Goals ·
For students to know
how to use the Internet to access information. ·
For students to
process the information with other tools. ·
For students to be
able to express and share their ideas through publications and to so
creativity through poetry Content Objectives ·
Students will be
sensitized on the effect of polythene littering on tourism. ·
Students will learn
the effect of polythene littering on the soil. ·
Students will learn
the impact of tourism on the economies of other countries. ·
Students will learn
the importance to tourism to the national economy. ·
Students will learn
about polythene waste management. Performance
Objectives Students will present their information in article writing, reports and poems on polythene Waste Management and Tourism and present their work on power point. And store information of floppy disk. Technology Objectives ·
Students will be able
to use search engines to find the necessary websites. ·
Students will be able
to use the information to write articles, reports and poems. ·
Students
will be able to use PowerPoint to present their work. Instructional
Activities (teacher component) ·
The teacher will
teach students article writing and report writing with the aid of tutorial CD
ROMs. ·
The teacher will
direct students on the use of Internet to collate information on polythene
littering and its effects. ·
The teacher will
direct students on how to use the information to write articles and reports. · The teacher will reserve the computer lab for four class periods of forty minutes each. She will divide the class into two groups. Each group will use two periods to finish the assignment. Learning Activities

Students will use
websites to acquire information on polythene. ·
They will use CD ROMs
to learn how to write articles, reports and poems. ·
They will use MS Word
to type the information on diskettes. ·
Students will present
the information using Power Point. ·
Students will exhibit
their communication skills and ideas. Instructional
Strategies The teacher will demonstrate the use of CD Rom to furnish students with article and report writing. She will then give instructions on polythene littering and its effect. The teacher will instruct students on the use of search engines to find information on the net. She will furnish students on how to make Power Point presentations. Students will put into practice what they have learnt under the supervision of the teacher. Project Assessment
