1. The amazing
Power of your MIND
“Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
I
heard it first in a Sales Motivation video, 19 years back, when a close friend of
mine shared this video with me. It’s a real life story about a person named
Goodman, who recuperates to the surprise of all, from his paralyzed state after
a devastating air accident, just by the sheer power of his mind. The doctor after the
operation declares to his wife that he is going to be immobile, bed ridden
& dumb. The only thing he can do for the rest of his life is breath and can
see. Over the next few days, Goodman develops a communication pattern with his
wife by winking his eyes. His wife would interpret and write it in a notebook to
acknowledge what he communicated. Once, when the chief doctor visits him,
Goodman through his wife will communicate a message to the doctor, “I will visit your home on the
Christmas day”. The doctor with a smile walks away, underestimating his
Mind Power. …The end of the story… Goodman recovers and makes tremendous
progress in the next few months. On the Christmas day, he goes walking to visit
his doctor and wishes him “Happy Christmas“.
The
above statement –originally by Napoleon Hill, author of the book “Think and
Grow Rich”, has really made a lasting impression in my mind.
I
read recently “The greatest power ever discovered in this century is the
power of Mind”.
Did you know that the effective utilization of our mind resources
is just 1/6th and 5/6th is never utilized, which is the most responsible one to
achieve great things in Life?
Mind has
two components – Conscious and Sub-conscious.
Conscious mind is the one that we
use day to day during our wakeful hours, which we are conscious of it and 100%
of us use it. Sub-Conscious
mind is the most powerful one that is under utilized or never utilized.
When you sleep, do you think that you have breath or you need to instruct your
digestion system to digest the food? No, we don't! All these functions are
actually controlled by your Sub-Conscious mind. Another aspect of the
Sub-Conscious mind is that it cannot differentiate what is right or wrong. It
just follows the instructions that you give it. If you keep telling your mind,
you look look sick, it is sure that others will see
you as a sick person. In other words, your sub-conscious mind will manifest
what you think about yourself. Now, be aware of what your mind thinks.
It is amazing that most of the famous discoveries, inventions, etc had come
through by the effective use of their sub-conscious mind.
Now, that you are curious to know the true potential of your mind, I have
recommended below some information and links related to MIND.

2. A True Story – Having the
Right Attitude
It was a stormy night many years ago when an elderly couple
entered the hotel lobby on the outskirts of a mountain resort area and asked
for a room.
"I'm very sorry," replied the night clerk. "All rooms are full
and so are all the other hotels in the area, but I don’t feel like sending you
out into the storm again. Why don't you stay in my room?" the young man
offered with a smile. "It may not be a luxury suite, but it's clean. I
need to finish my bookkeeping here in the office."
The distinguished-looking man and woman seemed uncomfortable, but they
graciously accepted his offer. When the gentleman went to pay the bill the next
morning, the clerk was still at the desk and said, "Oh, I live here
full-time, so there's no charge for the room. You don't need to worry about
that."
The older man nodded and said to the clerk, "You're the kind of person
that every hotel owner dreams about having as a staff member. Maybe someday
I'll build a hotel for you." The hotel clerk was flattered, but the idea
sounded so outrageous that he was sure the man was joking.
A few years passed and the hotel clerk was still at the same job. One day he
received a registered letter from the man. The letter expressed his vivid
recollections of that stormy night, along with an invitation and a round-trip
ticket for the hotel clerk to visit him in
"That," exclaimed the man, "is the hotel I've built for you to
run! I told you at the time that it might happen and today you can see that I
was serious."
The clerk was stunned. "What's the catch? Why me? Who are you
anyway?" he stammered. "My name is William Waldorf Astor. And there
is no catch. You are the person I want managing this property for me."
That hotel was the original Waldorf Astoria, and the name of the young clerk
who accepted the first managerial position was George C. Boldt.**
Bhagavad Gita, stresses the
importance of Attitude in Chapter 2, Verse 47
Karmany evaadhikaaraste
Maa phalesu kadaachana
Maa karma-phala-hetur bhuur
Maa te sango
‘stva karmanii
Translation: Thy right is to work only; but never to its fruits;
let not the fruit of action be thy motive, nor let thy
attachment be to inaction.
The above true story is an excellent example for the above verse
from Bhagavad Gita.
