shakuhachi

Hocchiku Style Shak by Perry Yung

This 2.0 (key of C) shakuhachi was made from a piece of root end Madake bamboo. The term hocchiku (religious bamboo) means there is nothing added to the flute - no utaguchi inlay, no lacquer in the bore, and no joint.

The maker, Perry Yung, described this flute as follows: "This flute is very dynamic for having no ji or lacquer. It is very flexible in timbre with a warm, electric buzz." All Perry's flutes are works of art. You can check out his website at http://www.yungflutes.com to learn more about his style of flutes.
